Beside Oneself

The expression, "I'm just beside myself." is meant to symbolize a distressed state. Premasudha helps us understand that indeed, most of us are living in this way. We are stuck in our heads, captivated by the material we find there. Meanwhile, our Soul is sitting by our side, shoulder to shoulder waiting for us to wake up. One step beyond this asleep state is embodying our Soul energy.

Are you looking for me? I am in the next seat.
My shoulder is against yours.
you will not find me in the stupas, not in Indian shrine
rooms, nor in synagogues, nor in cathedrals:
not in masses, nor kirtans, not in legs winding
around your own neck, nor in eating nothing but

When you really look for me, you will see me

You know the expression, Beside ourselves. I feel beside myself. Okay, That is how most of us live. It's like we are sitting in our ego and right next to us, Shoulder to shoulder, Is kind of the outline of our soul. It's like what we would be and feel like if we were living a human life in truth. So imagine, There's you. Just think of you as kind of in your ego. Think of you right next to you, Is kind of your outline in your soul energy. And we say, I feel beside myself because we are beside ourselves. So this work is to help the two views unite. So you are existing. There's just you. There's no outline of you next to you. There's just you in your soul energy, Feeling like you do to having a hug from Amma, But feeling that way all the time. And this work is just to help you get your heads around it. And to kind of shove the two in together more, You know, However it can be done. But what you deeply know in your hearts, What the point of all this is saying, That what you truly know deep within your hearts is accurate. It's totally accurate. It's God in your heart. What you know deep inside is totally, Totally accurate. Always has been. Because it's God, And you're God. And if you don't feel this, It's just because you're a little bit beside yourself. You're a little bit removed from your true energy. You're playing in, It's safer to please other people than be true to myself. True to myself. I won't make us feel beside ourselves.
