In this short meditation, we savor the feeling of gratitude. Then we take some time to explore what needs were met by the person or situation we are grateful for. Next we take a moment to savor how it feels to have that need met. Much gratitude to Dimitar Bodurov for the music accompanying and enhancing this journey. Photo by Giulia Bertelli.

Hello fellow human.

Let's dig a little deeper into why we feel grateful.

So if you'd like to think of what or whom you are grateful for right now.

I'll give you a few seconds to think of that.

Think of what or whom you're grateful for right now.

Okay,

Now that you've identified it,

Do you want to take a moment to savor that feeling of gratitude or appreciation?

Feel it in your body.

Okay,

Next,

Think of the needs that are met from what this person has provided you with.

The feelings,

The experiences,

Whatever it is they've provided you with.

Think of the needs that are met by that.

It could be needs like support.

Maybe it filled your need for companionship or compassion.

Or maybe they filled the need for connection or appreciation.

Or maybe they filled the need for respect.

Or maybe your need for humor.

Try to identify the need or needs that they met or that that situation.

And how does it feel to have that need met?

Can you feel it in your body?

How it feels to have that need met?

Would you like to savor that now?

Savor that feeling?

Okay,

I hope you have many more moments to savor,

Fellow human.
