Welcome to a guided meditation with Grandmother Bear.
Today we'll travel in to meet Grandmother Bear,
Who is ready to greet us in winter's deep cave and share her messages with you.
Clear your sacred space.
This meditation can be done seated while facing the direction of north.
Open your palms in your lap in receptive pose.
Imagine yourself in a safe sanctuary in the woods.
Step outside the door to take a walk north on a footpath leading toward a mountain.
See the features of the mountain,
Its height,
The weather that surrounds it.
Notice what time of day it is.
Look at the plants,
Shrubs,
And trees growing on and around the mountain.
Look down at your feet and notice the terrain.
Do you see the tracks of the Great One?
The shape of her paw and long sharp claws give her away.
Follow her footprints as they lead to the mountain.
Slow your walk to her pace.
Feel your shoulders strong and wide.
Gather an offering from the earth that you will take to her.
Up ahead the trail curves into the brush.
The terrain is rougher now,
But the grasses have been laid flat by the one who has led you here.
Look to your left and locate the dark rock crevice at the foot of the mountain.
Make your way there now.
What do you see around you as you approach the dark cave?
What are you feeling?
Step into the cave and take a deep breath.
It's warm in here and there's a strong scent on the air.
It smells earthy and of roots.
There's a small hole in the ground further back with some coals burning bright and a pile of medicine next to it.
Place your offering with the other items.
Take a seat and warm your hands while you wait for her.
A large figure comes and sits down across from you,
Legs astride the fire.
It is the grandmother.
She sniffs the air and looks at you.
She picks up a root and begins to chew on it.
She wants you to know how she does this and why.
Let her tell you.
She chooses another plant,
Rubbing it across her thick fur.
She chews on leaves which she pulls from a stem,
Pulverizing them until they become a paste which she spits into her paw,
Holds high over the fire and then offers to you.
Where do you need it?
To be applied.
She speaks in her language.
You do not understand.
She speaks more and slowly you begin to comprehend what she is saying.
Her message is about you and your life.
Listen closely.
She stands and gestures to each of the four directions.
She moves her paws from the ground to the sky and back to her body.
She lays down quietly to rest.
When you're ready,
Rise up and give thanks and goodbyes in your own way.
Make your way out of the warmth of the cave,
Carrying the medicine she gave to you.
When you're back on trail,
Let your intuition guide you back to the sanctuary where you began.
Enter and sit on the cozy floor in front of the fire.
Come back into your body slowly,
Wiggling fingers and toes and taking in a deep breath.
