Hello,
This is Petrina.
Thank you for being here with me.
In this session I will be reading Psalm 91.
But before I do that,
I'd like to take a moment to reflect on the power of God's protection and the peace it brings to us,
Especially when we're feeling vulnerable or overwhelmed.
My loving grandma,
Who was my favorite human being,
Left us five years ago,
This October 21st,
And she had a deep devotion to the book of Psalms.
She taught us to turn to these words when times got really,
Really difficult.
She particularly believed in Psalm 91.
She thought this was a promise from God,
A reminder that we are never alone,
Even in our darkest moments.
So as I read these verses,
Allow yourself to rest in that truth,
Trusting that God is always there guiding and protecting and keeping us safe.
May these words fill your hearts with the same strength,
Comfort,
And security that my dear grandma imparted on me.
Here goes.
You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High,
Who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,
Say to the Lord,
My refuge and fortress,
My God in whom I trust.
God will rescue you from the fowler's snare,
From the destroying plague,
Will shelter you with his pinions,
Spread wings,
And you may take refuge.
God's faithfulness is a protecting shield.
You shall not fear the terror of the night,
Nor the arrow that flies by the day,
Nor the pestilence that roams in the darkness,
Nor the plague that ravages at noon.
Though a thousand fall at your side,
Ten thousand at your right hand,
Near you shall it not come.
You need simply watch the punishment of the wicked you will see.
You have the Lord for your refuge.
You have made the Most High your stronghold.
No evil shall befall you.
No affliction come near you.
For God commands the angels to guard you in all your ways.
With their hands they shall support you,
Lest you strike your foot against the stone.
You shall tread upon the sap in the viper and trample the lion in the dragon.
Whoever clings to me,
I will deliver.
Whoever knows my name,
I will set on high.
All who call upon me,
I will answer.
I will be with them in distress.
I will deliver them and give them honor.
With the length of days,
I will satisfy them and show them my saving power.
I hope you find comfort and peace and security and stability in those comforting words.
And I hope that you will take these words with you throughout the rest of your day,
Your evening,
Your night,
And that they may settle deep into your subconscious and create a feeling of safety.
From my heart to yours,
With so much love,
Until we meet again,
I will see you soon.
Namaste.
