Hi,
I'm Emma from Pause Within.
This yoga nidra practice is a gentle invitation to rest,
To connect with your body,
Your breath and your inner awareness.
Yoga nidra is sometimes called yogic sleep.
It's a deeply relaxing practice that allows you to let go of tension,
Quieten the mind and recharge your energy.
You don't need to do anything except lie or sit comfortably,
Listen and follow my guidance.
Today's session is designed to help you settle fully and open space for calm,
Clarity and renewal.
Let's begin by finding a comfortable position and letting your body be fully supported by the ground beneath you.
Let's begin by arriving into the body,
Into this moment.
Close down the eyes or keep a soft,
Neutral gaze.
Invite a few slow breaths through the nose into the ribs.
We are about to step into the year of the horse,
A year of spirit,
Circulation and forward motion.
In this year of the horse,
We are invited to notice how our spirit wants to move,
How the chi wants to circulate.
We are also on the edge of the winter to spring transition.
In Chinese medicine,
Spring belongs to the wood element and we can begin to stimulate the spring meridian lines in preparation for this new season.
These are the energies of movement,
Vision and new direction.
The meridian lines of the liver and the gallbladder that move along the outer and inner edges of the body.
Finding the shape that your body wants to rest in,
Taking some time to find comfort,
Allowing yourself to be received by the ground.
Let the weight of the bones drop,
The muscles soften,
Let the breath become effortless.
Feel where the body meets the earth,
The back of the head,
The shoulder blades,
Sacrum,
The heels.
Notice the breath,
Not guiding it,
Just being aware.
Settling our senses,
Hearing,
Touch,
Smell,
Taste,
Vision.
Let the volume of the outer world softly quieten.
Let the space between the eyes become soft,
Let the jaw release,
Let the sides of the face and the neck melt.
Trust that your energy knows how to rise when the timing is right.
Perhaps taking this time to invite a simple inner phrase,
I trust my inner direction.
And repeating that to yourself a couple of times.
Bringing awareness to the body.
There's no movement required,
Only noticing.
The body stays still,
Imagining a soft green light moving with your awareness.
The outer edges of both feet,
The outer ankles,
The calves,
The thighs,
The outside of the hips,
The edges of the waist,
The ribs,
The armpits,
Up the sides of the neck,
The head,
The crown of the head.
Noticing that soft green light beginning to travel downward,
Down the sides of the mouth and the jaw.
Flowing into the chest and the ribs,
The lower belly,
The front of the thighs,
The inside of the knees,
The inside calves,
The inner ankles,
The inside edge of the foot,
The inside edge of both big toes.
Picturing a warm light,
The base of your body.
Noticing how it spreads gently upward,
Like sunlight slowly spreading across the earth.
This is your energy,
Your chi or your prana,
Life force,
Starting to rise.
Watch as this light turns a soft green,
The colour of fresh spring leaves.
Feel this light washing all over your body,
Bringing warmth and calm.
Noticing a green space,
Maybe a field.
Noticing the quiet peace beneath the ground.
Small sprouts are preparing to grow,
Unfurled for spring.
You can't see them quite yet,
But life is quietly moving,
Quietly stirring,
Preparing to bloom.
Sense that same energy as it stirs inside you.
Let this green softness continue to wash and flow through you.
Just being with this feeling.
Noticing stillness and stirring,
Storage and circulation.
Waiting and preparing,
Grounding and rising.
Winter and spring.
Let your intention rest in the body.
I trust my inner direction.
Very slowly,
Bringing your awareness back to this physical space.
Your awareness back to your body,
Bringing sensations back to the fingers and the toes.
With a cool inhale through the nose.
There is no rush.
Whenever you're ready,
Bringing very gentle movements back to the body.
Keeping the eyelids heavy and the jaw soft.
Taking a few more rounds of slow rhythmic breaths in through the nose and out through the nose.
Remembering again that there is no rush.
When you feel ready,
Very slowly blinking the eyes back open and perhaps inviting in a new perspective for the hour,
The day,
The week,
The month or the year ahead.
Thank you and I hope to see you here again soon.
