This meditation is for you.
If you're having trouble falling asleep,
Or perhaps you have fallen asleep,
But you've woken up in the middle of the night and are having trouble getting comfortable.
We can start by taking a deep breath.
And exhaling,
And as you exhale.
.
.
Allowing your limbs.
To get lit.
Allowing your head to sink deeper into the pillow.
Finding a position that works for you.
Imagine driving.
On a long windy road.
It's nighttime.
You've been driving for hours.
Your body and mind are exhausted.
And all you can think of.
Is sleeping in a.
.
.
Comfortable plush bed.
As you're driving,
You see in the distance.
The hotel you've booked.
It's even more beautiful in person.
And you just feel so much relief.
Finally getting to your destination.
You pull in.
And as you walk with your luggage.
Towards different entrants.
A staff member.
With a warm smile.
And they know your name.
They welcome you.
And they open the door.
And you enter a beautiful hotel lobby.
Notice all the sites.
The sounds.
The smell.
Of this amazing lobby.
The temperature.
You walk towards the front desk and are greeted by another staff member.
Reciting your name.
So warm and welcoming.
And eager for you.
To relax in your room.
They check you in and hand you the key.
You walk towards your room,
Down the hall.
Admiring the wallpaper.
Noticing the numbers on the doors.
Until you find your room.
Use the key to walk in.
To a very luxurious.
Comfortable space.
Notice as you look around what you see.
What you hear.
What you smell.
And the temperature.
As you walk in.
You see.
This lovely view.
Outside.
It's a bit dark.
But you can see there's a balcony.
And there's water.
A vast body of water under your balcony.
You see,
In your room,
This amazing bed,
So inviting,
Calling you.
To get in and get comfy.
But also by the bed and by the balcony there are four big rocks.
These rocks represent everything you've been carrying today.
They're what's on your mind.
And we need to release these rocks into the water before we can rest.
So you open and slide this balcony door.
You pick up one of the rocks.
You have strength in your arms and legs.
You pick up this rock and for a moment you connect with what this rock means to you.
Bring the rock to the edge of the balcony.
And with a big push.
Drop it down into the water.
Watching it go down.
Down.
Down to this bottom.
Until you can't see it anymore.
Notice how you feel releasing that rock.
Now you go and get your second rock.
Using your legs and your arms and your core to pick it up safely.
Bring it to the edge of the balcony.
And push it down,
Hearing it splash.
Go down as bubbles come up.
Watching the rocks.
Drop down.
Down.
Down.
.
.
Go to get that third rock.
Might be feeling a little tired.
Bye now.
Your body.
Feeling heavy.
But you muster your strength to pick it up.
Go to the balcony.
And drop it.
Splashing and going down.
Down,
Down.
Now you're feeling pretty tired.
Go to get that last rock.
With the last of your strength.
You pick it up.
Shuffle to the balcony.
And push it down.
Finally.
Down.
Down.
Down.
.
.
Feeling lighter.
Complete.
And ready to rest.
You come back into your beautiful room.
Close the door.
Close the curtains.
Change into your pajamas.
Pull back those super soft.
.
.
Smooth sheets.
You've put your legs into the bed.
And feel.
It's amazing,
Cushy mattress.
That is perfect,
The perfect softness and firmness for your body.
As you pull the covers to your chin,
You can't believe how good this feels.
Grateful to be here.
Grateful to be welcomed into this rest.
Turn off the lights.
Get into the position that feels best for you.
And relax your feet.
Allowing your feet to finally rest.
Your feet have been walking and driving at attention.
For hours.
And we can say goodnight to them.
We can say goodnight to our ankles and calves.
Who've helped us go up steps and walk.
We can say goodnight to our knees,
Who did a lot of work just picking up those rocks.
Good night to our thighs and to our butt.
Who've done so much work for us to stand,
To sit.
To walk,
To jump.
Our core,
Our organs who keep us alive.
And help us sleep at the same time.
Our lungs,
Our heart.
That give us life.
That keep us going.
Our arms that have done so much work picking up those rocks.
Driving.
Thank you and good night,
Arms.
Good night,
Neck,
Who's been keeping our head up while we drive to get us to this beautiful place.
Good night,
Heavy head.
Heavy head that gets to rest finally.
Heavy head that feels heavy on this pillow.
Good night,
Body.
Go ahead.
Enter your sleep.
Enjoy this peace and quiet.
