Hi,
I'm Pamela Pawelski.
I'm a licensed clinical social worker and therapist.
This is a quick morning meditation to help you start your day.
With hope and intention.
Mornings might be difficult for you.
If you wake up with worry as the first thing on your mind.
Or if you're dreading the workday or school day.
Your mind and body may not want to participate.
We are going to go through a practice.
To help you enter the morning with intention.
And purpose.
Let's begin.
Take a deep breath in.
And as you exhale,
You can thank yourself for being present.
To participate in this meditation.
If you can.
Place your hands on your belly.
And as you breathe.
Notice your belly gently pushing on your hands.
As you exhale.
Continue to breathe.
Just like that.
Every day,
Like clockwork.
Just before the sun rises.
There is quiet.
Stillness.
Just before the sun peaks over the horizon,
A musical performance begins outside.
Birds with different instrumental voices.
Singing separately.
And together at the same time.
First,
It's the robins.
And the sparrows.
Than the cardinals.
And others join in.
They have jobs to do.
To see their friends.
To eat.
To take care of themselves,
To protect their loved ones.
And to fly.
It's not always pleasant outside,
Of course.
It might be raining.
It might be hot and dry.
It might be freezing.
For songbirds,
Life is short.
There are so many challenges just to survive the day.
Predators,
Disease,
Lack of food.
And yet still,
Every morning,
They show up.
They greet the day with curiosity.
Playfulness.
Lightness.
Using every part of their body and mind.
To be present and ready.
For them to play their part in the orchestra of life.
If you could be a bird.
Which bird would you be?
Imagine you in a tree.
In the morning sun.
With your beautiful feathers.
On a branch of lush leaves.
What is the perfect view that you see from this tree?
What is the song you would like to sing from the treetops this morning?
What are the intentions that you would like to make to set the tone for this day?
Here are a few that you can try.
This day is a gift that I am grateful to experience.
I am as deserving of this day as anyone else.
I will balance this day with the perfect amount of productivity and rest that is right for me.
I am doing the best that I can with what I have.
I am good enough.
And that is good enough for me.
You are an amazing creature that this world needs.
Connect with the best part of you.
And show the world what you can do.
Have a great day.
Take care of yourself.
