Hello,
My name is Narelle and I will be guiding you through your restorative yoga practice.
Find a space to practice where you feel safe.
You can choose to practice on the floor,
In your bed,
On the couch,
In a chair,
Or even outside as long as you feel completely comfortable and at ease.
Meet your body in a comfortable,
Easeful,
And restful pose that is sustainable for the duration of this practice.
This could be in a sitting,
Reclined,
Or lying down position.
Use any props such as pillows,
Blankets,
Or clothing layers to aid in the comfort and easiness of this pose.
Support your body as it needs to be supported.
If you start to experience any uncomfortableness during this practice,
Make any adjustments you need to find yourself back in easefulness again.
Start to settle into this practice by letting your breath flow softly and naturally.
Throughout the day,
You may have been holding your breath or your breath may have become shallow.
Let this be a time to let go of any tension in your breathing.
There is no need to force your breath into any shape it doesn't want to be in.
Let your breath be natural.
As your breath softens and release,
Turn your attention to your body.
Living in this world may have garnered some tension or strain in your body and that's okay.
This tension is natural and a way for our bodies to protect us.
Give some gratitude to your body.
You can smile to yourself,
Place your hands over your heart,
Or softly say,
I am grateful to you,
My body.
Give your body permission to soften.
With every inhale,
Let the body expand.
And with every exhale,
Allow the body to release.
Let this be a slow process.
Take all the time you need.
As you inhale,
Expand.
And as you exhale,
Release.
Inhale,
Expand.
And exhale,
Release.
And exhale,
Release.
As your body softens,
Notice your thoughts.
You may have many thoughts,
Few thoughts,
Or be somewhere in between.
Imagine those thoughts as leaves floating down a gentle stream.
Imagine you are safely observing from a distance these leaves of thoughts,
Making their way down this stream.
Let these thoughts float down the stream.
Let them come into your sight,
Then out of your sight.
You are simply an observer of these leaves.
No need to do anything else but observe.
And if you find yourself becoming lost in the busyness,
Come back to your soft and natural breath.
Your breath is always there to support you.
Spend a few moments here in stillness as a soft and passive observer of yourself.
So so so Gently bring yourself back to the present by introducing some subtle movements into your body.
Wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes.
Reach your hands over your head and stretch out your body.
Gently blink your eyes open.
