Hello,
I'm Natalie Barney.
This meditation is the first of three and it's been forming for a little while because I think many of us are beginning to feel something shifting.
A movement away from doing everything alone,
Carrying everything alone,
Solving everything alone.
We've been taught that independence is strength,
That relying on others is dangerous,
That self-sufficiency is the goal and in many ways we adapted to that.
We became capable,
Resourceful,
Self-reliant.
But the wolf was never truly meant to live alone.
A lone wolf in nature is usually in transition,
Searching,
Separated between worlds.
I feel that's where many of us are now,
Realizing we know how to survive alone but also beginning to ask at what cost.
Take a slow breath in and a longer breath out.
Again,
Breathing in deeply through the nose and breathing out slowly through the mouth.
And one more time,
Breathing in and letting the breath go gently.
Notice your body beginning to settle.
The weight of your body,
The space around you.
Now imagine yourself in a forest,
An ancient,
Dense,
Alive forest.
The ground beneath you is uneven.
Earth,
Roots,
Fallen leaves.
The air is cool.
There's movement around you but nothing demanding your attention.
And as you move through the forest,
You realize that you are a wolf.
Alert,
Instinctive,
Aware of everything around you.
You know how to move here.
You know how to survive here.
Your senses are sharp.
Your body knows what to do.
And there is strength in that,
Real strength.
Stay there for a moment.
Feel how you move through the forest alone.
You move carefully.
Not from fear but from experience.
You've learned to rely on your own instinct,
To read what's around you,
To adapt quickly,
To keep moving.
And over time,
Moving this way has become familiar.
You know how to hold yourself together.
You know how to keep going.
You know how to survive.
The silence is everywhere.
Feel the weight of carrying everything alone.
This silence has become familiar.
You don't expect support.
You don't expect to be met.
It is just you,
Moving through the forest on your own.
There was a time this was necessary.
A time this protected you.
Stay now with the question.
Is this still how you want to move?
Is something in you beginning to recognize that surviving alone and fully living are not the same thing?
What stirs in your body when you allow the question to exist?
I am now going to leave you to feel into what comes through.
And now,
Very subtly,
Something shifts.
Somewhere deeper in the forest you can sense movement.
A presence.
It doesn't feel like danger.
And something in your response.
You don't have to move toward it.
You don't have to move away from it.
Simply become aware that you may not be alone here after all.
Just observe what happens inside you.
What do you feel when you realize there may be others in the forest?
What changes in your body?
What softens?
What resists?
You don't need to judge any of it.
Take time now to sense into whatever comes to the surface.
There are parts of you,
Gifts within you,
That only fully awaken in connection.
And this connection is not asking you to abandon yourself.
This connection is not weakening you.
This connection allows more of you to come alive.
Stay with that feeling.
Does it feel different from needing to do everything alone?
Stay here for a moment longer.
You survived this way.
You adapted to this way of moving through the world.
And there was strength in that.
But that strength was never meant to become separation.
You were never meant to carry everything alone forever.
Seeing this doesn't make you weak.
It might allow something else to begin.
We are going to take a few moments now to anchor this possibility more deeply.
Within us.
I'm going to say a few affirmations three times each.
And you can repeat each affirmation silently or out aloud.
Let the words land in your body.
In your own way.
I honor the path that shaped me.
I honor the path that shaped me.
I honor the path that shaped me.
My strength comes from within.
My strength comes from within.
My strength comes from within.
I trust the wisdom I've gained.
I trust the wisdom I've gained.
I trust the wisdom I have gained.
I no longer need to be afraid.
I no longer need to prove my independence.
I no longer need to prove my independence.
I allow myself to move beyond survival.
I allow myself to move beyond survival.
I allow myself to move beyond survival.
I am whole within myself.
I am whole within myself.
I am whole within myself.
Take a slow breath in.
Take a slow breath in.
And let it go gently.
Notice your body.
Sense the forest around you.
And perhaps this path feels different now.
You were never wrong for believing you had to move through life alone.
It's what many of us were taught.
And for a long time it felt necessary.
But this faith was never the destination.
Sometimes the first shift is simply recognizing where we've been.
Sometimes the first shift is simply recognizing where we've been.
And we want to move through life in the same way.
And we want to move through life in the same way.
When you feel ready,
The second meditation in this series is called the Call of the Pack.
This is a meditation about opening to connection again.
About opening yourself to others.
About opening yourself to others.
Sense what becomes possible when you no longer believe you have to do everything on your own.
When you no longer believe you have to do everything on your own.
For now,
Begin to bring your awareness back to your breath.
Begin to bring your awareness back to your breath.
Your body.
The space around you.
And gently open your eyes.
Thank you for walking through this forest with me.
Thank you for walking through this forest with me.
And for allowing yourself to pause long enough And for allowing yourself to pause long enough to feel what may be shifting within you.
To feel what may be shifting within you.
Take your time returning.
And be gentle with yourself as you move back into the rest of your day as you move back into the rest of your day or your evening.
