Let yourself arrive exactly as you are.
There is no need to force calm right now.
Just noticing the feeling of being supported beneath you.
Whether by a chair,
The floor,
Or the bed.
And perhaps allowing your body to settle even slightly into that support.
You might like to close your eyes,
Or simply soften your gaze.
Begin by noticing the places where your body is making contact with the surface beneath you.
The weight of your legs.
Your hands,
Your shoulders.
Nothing to change.
And nothing to perform.
Just noticing.
If the mind feels busy,
That is okay.
If the nervous system still feels activated.
That is okay too.
This practice isn't about forcing yourself to feel calm.
It's simply creating a little more steadiness underneath everything else.
Just allowing the steady rhythm in the background to be there with you for a moment.
Slow consistent.
Without needing anything from you.
Just allowing yourself to slow down a little too.
Not needing to escape your thoughts.
Or stop your feelings.
Just allowing the nervous system to settle gradually in its own time.
You may notice moments where your body softens slightly.
Even if only for a breath or two.
Sometimes,
Overwhelm can make everything feel loud all at once.
Thoughts.
Sensations emotion.
Stimulation,
And right now.
You don't need to solve all of it.
Just allowing yourself to focus on one small point of steadiness.
The feeling of breathing.
The support beneath you.
Or the sound of my voice.
Letting the body know.
It doesn't need to stay braced quite so tightly right now.
As this practice comes to an end.
There is no need to hold onto any particular feeling.
Just noticing what it feels like to pause.
And create a little more space inside the nervous system.
And when you're ready.
You can open your eyes or lift your gaze.
And gently continue on with the rest of your day.
Bringing whatever sense of grounding is available right now.
