Hello there,
My name is Bill and welcome to a new series of meditations focused on the Psalms of the Bible.
For tonight's sleep psalm,
We will be meditating on Psalm 1.
As you lay down,
Relax your neck and shoulders,
Rest your arms by your side,
And take a few deep breaths.
Close your eyes and breathe in and out slowly.
Try to control your breathing to help your body relax.
Breathe in and out slowly.
Notice how your chest rises and falls with each breath.
The slower you inhale,
The more your chest expands.
When you exhale,
After allowing your chest to fully expand,
More oxygen will flow to rejuvenate your body.
Take another deep breath and release any stress and tension in your muscles as you exhale.
Clear your mind and focus your thoughts on God.
Remember who He is,
The all-powerful One that knows you,
Sees you,
And loves you.
He knows the weight of what you are carrying from today,
And He is ready to lift your burdens and give you rest for your mind,
Body,
And soul.
Bring today's worries and anxieties to Him.
Know He cares for you.
Know He came to bring you a life filled with joy,
Hope,
And peace.
Focus on His promises,
On His goodness,
And out slowly.
Open your mind and heart to hear His voice.
Ask for Him to speak to you through His word.
Know His voice will lead you to a safe,
Quiet place where you can rest in Him.
Tonight,
You can find rest in knowing God's word can and will sustain you.
The Bible promises those who take delight in God's word will be blessed and refreshed.
Psalm 1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor standeth in the way of sinners,
Nor sinneth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law doth he meditate day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,
That bringeth forth his fruit in his season.
His leaf also shall not wither,
And whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
The ungodly are not so,
But are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous,
But the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Meditating on God's word before you go to sleep fills your heart with joy and your spirit with delight.
You can find peace knowing God is always watching over you,
Protecting you through the night.
Breathe in and out slowly.
With your eyes closed,
Imagine being firmly rooted in His love,
Grace,
And truth,
And quenching your thirst in His springs of eternal life.
No God can sustain you where you are.
Focus on God and His faithfulness to keep you and watch over you.
Praise Him for always keeping His promises and for being your firm foundation.
Thank Him for His flawless word in which you can take delight,
And for His powerful presence in which you can find satisfaction.
Draw near to Him so that you can grow and live a fruitful life by bringing others to Him.
Reflect on your life and think of areas in which you can surrender to Him and be more fruitful.
Confess times when you have allowed the ways of this world to distract you from His way.
Breathe in His forgiveness.
As you exhale,
Let go of your guilt and shame.
Surrender to God's love and find inner peace and rest for your mind,
Body,
And soul.
Take delight in the Lord and His goodness.
Allow His joy to lighten your heavy heart.
Praise Him for the times He has protected you.
Praise Him for the people He put in your life to bring you closer to Him.
Praise Him for the opportunities He has given you to bring others to Him and to bear fruit in your life.
Think of someone you know and pray for them to find rest tonight.
Pray God will fill you with His wisdom and help you continue to follow His path that leads to a life filled with joy and peace.
Pray God will bring people in your life who will encourage you in your walk with Him.
Pray God will fill you with the Holy Spirit and show you how to live a fruitful life for Him.
Pray God will help you find rest in knowing He is watching over you tonight.
Take a deep breath.
As you exhale,
Release any tension and stress that is still lingering from today.
Relax your neck and shoulders.
Feel your body soften and your mind settle.
As your body relaxes,
Allow God to refresh your soul and bring you peace to help you rest.
Through the night.
