Why should we meditate? Meditation provides so many benefits that it would be impossible to list them in a short paragraph. One of its primary benefits is that it brings us back into the rhythm of nature. With the advent of modern life in big cities, we tend to lose the tranquility that nature provides for us.

Hello,

My name is Sean Ramston and welcome to this short lecture on why we should meditate.

This question of course is commonly asked by many people and those people that have meditated for a long time would smile when such a question is asked due to the enormous amount of benefits that one gets.

Is my personal belief that before the advent of the modern world,

Meaning cars,

Unnatural noises,

All the bright lights at night and the various other aspects that come with living in a city,

That when you're out in nature,

You will find yourself automatically moving towards being in a meditative mindset.

This is why so many masters for so long or great meditative teachers recommended people who were under a lot of stress to go out into nature and just be with nature.

Moving with nature and your entire system starts to slow down to the rhythm of the earth.

The rhythm of the earth of course is a slow,

Patient rhythm.

One that is cyclic and one that keeps going forever.

If we can get ourselves into that rhythm,

So many issues that we have can be quite quickly resolved.

So let's say for example,

You're just walking through the forest and you'll find yourself slowly but surely unwinding.

The spinning of the wheel will slow down.

This of course normally takes a week or two weeks or something like that.

If you go out into nature,

You'll find yourself at various times automatically becoming meditative.

This of course is most obvious in certain scenarios.

For example,

The sunset,

The sunrise,

Feeling the wind on your face.

You may also find it in certain areas.

These areas around the world have been called by many different names.

Some places say they have a lot of chi or a lot of energy or they're very spiritual.

But at the end of the day,

It's probably more scientific in the way that an area is due to the light that falls on it,

The position it is in regards to the way the wind blows,

The beautiful trees that are there.

These spiritual areas are incredibly inducive for a meditative state because we feel one with nature while we are there.

Living in the modern city of course,

All of these beautiful and natural areas are no longer around.

It's not very easy to get into a meditative state when you are living nearby a highway,

You hear cars going past,

You have bright white lights around you at night,

You never hear the trees whistling,

You never hear the birds singing.

The human body was never designed for such an environment.

This design flaw in terms of the way we are now currently living in an environment that we're not created for actually causes us many diseases and illnesses.

These diseases and illnesses are called mismatched diseases.

We therefore need to take the time on a daily basis to bring our system back into rhythm.

The only way to do this while living in large cities is through meditation.

Different meditations provide different results,

But in the end you need to find one that works for you.
