Hi,
I'm glad you're here.
Grief is heavy.
It comes without asking and it changes the shape of everything.
If you've lost someone,
If you've been torn open by absence,
I know how sharp that can be.
I've carried grief too.
It can feel endless,
Unfair,
Impossible to bear.
So let's sit together in it.
Sit,
Not to push it away,
Not to cover it up,
But to breathe with it,
To give it space,
To let it be seen.
Sit in a way you can stay.
Let your spine be upright,
Like a rooted tree.
Let your hands rest where they feel natural,
Let your jaw soften,
Let your shoulders fall.
You don't have to be perfect here,
Just present.
If at any point it feels like too much,
You can open your eyes,
Ease your breath,
Reground in your body,
You set the pace,
We'll steady ourselves with a rhythm.
Exhale slowly through your mouth for six,
Let's begin.
Inhale for four,
Hold for two,
Exhale for six,
Again inhale four,
Exhale six,
Exhale six,
Let your eyes close if they haven't already.
Now let your grief show itself,
It might come as an image or a memory or just a weight in your chest,
Don't fight it,
Don't explain it.
Exhale six,
If tears come,
Let them,
If anger comes,
Let it,
If all you feel is emptiness that too belongs.
The breath is your anchor,
But stay with it.
Every fire cools,
Every wound changes.
Exhale six,
Inhale four,
Exhale six,
Whisper inwardly,
This grief is seen,
Let the silence hold you.
Thoughts may rise,
Memories,
Regrets,
Longing,
Notice them,
Let them pass like smoke,
Return to the breath,
Exhale six,
This grief is seen,
This love lives in me.
Stay here with your grief as long as you need,
Not drowning in it,
But sitting with it like a guest at the table,
Hold two,
Exhale six.
One last time,
Inhale four,
Hold two,
Exhale six,
Let the silence after this last breath be a blessing.
Slowly,
Bring your attention back to your body,
Feel the ground beneath you,
The weight of your hands,
The air around you,
And when you're ready,
Gently open your eyes.
Thank you for practicing today.
Grief may stay close or it may drift for a while,
But you are not powerless in its presence.
Every time you return to this breath,
You return to your strength.
Carry this with you,
The love remains,
The breath remains,
And when the ache rises again,
You know the way back.
Be a breath,
Remind you,
Love does not end here.
