Lectio Divina: All I Have Is Yours (The Lost Son)

This Lectio Divina will invite you to meditate on one of Jesus' most well-known and loved parables - the Parable of the Lost (Prodigal) Son -but with a difference. On each listen, you will be reflecting on where each of the characters in the parable - the Father, the older son, and the younger son - reside in your being and how you need to relate to each. A very poignant and personal Lectio.

Because I identify with the older son, I have struggled with this Parable all my life...and continue to do so. It has helped to try to understand it through the three points of view. Hopefully some day I will be softened.

Prodigal Son, read three times, with meditation from the viewpoint of each individual. Very interesting!

I had a very rich time with this meditation that I will chew on for awhile today. I settled on the phrase the father says to the older son "everything I have is yours". The nature of God is that God can "divide" the inheritance yet each recipient still has access to everything.
