Rosary: The Luminous Mysteries

This audio takes you unhurried through the Rosary reflecting on the Luminous Mysteries. Each mystery includes a short Bible reading with a minute of silence after for reflection, before moving on to the next decade. I am grateful to Refuge Rosaries for the Rosary for this audio. The Luminous Mysteries are: The Baptism of the Lord; The Wedding in Cana; The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God; The Transfiguration; and The Institution of the Eucharist.

It's an honor to be praying the rosary with you today as we reflect on the luminous mysteries.

In the name of the Father,

And of the Son,

And of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

I believe in God,

The Father Almighty,

Creator of heaven and earth,

And in Jesus Christ,

His only Son,

Our Lord,

Who is conceived by the Holy Spirit,

Born of the Virgin Mary,

Suffered under Pontius Pilate,

Was crucified,

Died,

And was buried.

He descended to the dead.

On the third day He rose again,

He ascended into heaven,

And is seated at the right hand of God,

The Father Almighty.

From there He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

The Holy Catholic Church,

The communion of saints,

The forgiveness of sins,

The resurrection of the body,

And the life everlasting.

Amen.

Our Father,

Who art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy name.

The first luminous mystery is the baptism in the Jordan.

The voice of the Father declares Jesus the beloved Son.

The fruit of this mystery,

Openness to the Holy Spirit.

The people were filled with expectation,

And all were asking in their hearts whether John might be the Christ.

John answered them all,

Saying,

I am baptizing you with water,

But one mightier than I will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

After all the people had been baptized,

And Jesus also had been baptized and was praying,

Heaven was opened,

And the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form,

Like a dove.

And a voice came from heaven,

You are my beloved Son,

With You I am well pleased.

Our Father,

Who art in heaven,

Hallowed be Thy name.

The second luminous mystery,

The wedding at Cana.

Christ changes water into wine,

His first public miracle.

The fruit of the mystery,

To Jesus through Mary.

His mother said to the servers,

Do whatever he tells you.

Jesus told them,

Fill the jars with water,

So they filled them up to the brim.

Then he told them,

Draw some out now and take it to the head waiter.

So they took it.

And when the head waiter tasted the water that had become wine,

The head waiter called the bridegroom and said to him,

Everyone serves good wine first,

And then when the people have drunk freely an inferior one,

But you have kept the good wine till now.

Jesus did this as the beginning of his signs in Cana in Galilee,

And so revealed his glory,

And his disciples began to believe in him.

Our Father,

The third luminous mystery,

The proclamation of the kingdom.

Jesus calls to conversion and forgives the sins of all who draw near to him.

The fruit of the mystery,

Repentance and trust in God.

After John had been arrested,

Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God.

This is the time of fulfillment.

The kingdom of God is at hand.

Repent and believe in the gospel.

As he passed by the Sea of Galilee,

He saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting their nets into the sea,

For they were fishermen.

Jesus said to them,

Come after me and I will make you fishers of people.

Then they left their nets and followed him.

Our Father,

The fourth luminous mystery,

The transfiguration.

The glory of the Godhead shines forth from the face of Christ.

The fruit of the mystery,

Desire for holiness.

He took Peter,

John and James and went up the mountain to pray.

While he was praying his face changed in appearance and his clothing became dazzling white and behold,

Two men were conversing with him,

Moses and Elijah,

Who appeared in glory and spoke of his exodus that he was going to accomplish in Jerusalem.

Then from the cloud came a voice that said,

This is my chosen son,

Listen to him.

Our Father,

Who art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

The fifth luminous mystery is the institution of the Eucharist.

Jesus offers the first Mass at the Last Supper with his apostles,

Establishing the sacramental foundation for all Christian living.

The fruit of the mystery is adoration.

While they were eating,

Jesus took bread,

Said the blessing,

Broke it,

And gave it to his disciples,

Saying,

Take and eat.

This is my body.

Then he took a cup,

Gave thanks,

And gave it to them,

Saying,

Drink from it,

All of you,

For this is my blood of the covenant,

Which will be shared on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins.

I tell you,

From now on I shall not drink this fruit of the vine until the day when I drink it with you new in the kingdom of my Father.

Then,

After singing a hymn,

They went out to the Mount of Olives.

Our Father,
