Secrets

This meditative poem intends to release us from the many secrets we keep. We keep many secrets in our hearts. Of how we really are beneath the layers. Of who we really are beyond the roles and expectations. We hide behind our secrets denying ourselves the sovereignty of standing in our unique light with all we have to offer when we are true to who we are beyond expectations. Secrets can become lies that we tell ourselves; there initially to protect us but over time they can become restrictive.

Secrets.

To be a friend,

To be a lover,

To play all roles,

To be the other.

To be your strength when you are weak.

To be your voice when you can't speak.

To strike balance when you are off.

To push you on when you want to stop.

To remind you of your life once yours.

To keep those always open doors.

To lift you up when you are down.

To bring a smile back from your frown.

To bring you hope when hope is gone.

To keep you loving all night long.

To hold your hand in therapy.

Remind you who you used to be.

Never forget life inside you.

The love that's good,

The love that's true.

No one can ever understand the life we loved,

The life we planned.

You showed me how to live life true and do what was right for you.

We only have one life to live.

Sometimes we take,

Sometimes we give.

We must do what is right by us,

Without a doubt,

Without a fuss.

People will say what they do choose.

There is no win,

There is no lose.

Just always do what's right for you.

Don't be afraid,

Don't be a fool.

For when we love ourselves in truth,

That is the best thing we can do.

Because only then do we realize this way to live,

It is so wise.

So never will I say goodbye.

You live in love,

Never say die.

The light you lit inside of me,

Forever will you live in me.
