Welcome.

Thank you for joining me today for this guided meditation.

Today we'll be talking about what meditation is and what it is not so that you can have a better understanding for what it is you can achieve today.

Most beginners,

When they attempt to meditate,

Find that it is very difficult to clear the mind of all of the thoughts,

All of the stories,

All of the feelings that come up in the quiet space.

It is near impossible to shut off this brain activity.

It is near impossible to stop the thoughts,

The feelings,

And the stories from coming up again and again.

Meditation is not stopping this activity.

Meditation is noticing this activity is happening and being a witness and making a choice whether to attach yourself to the thoughts,

The stories,

Emotions that come up or detaching and noticing that these thought patterns,

They are not you.

Yes,

They are a part of you.

You are hearing them.

You may even be seeing them.

You are the watcher.

You can choose to close your eyes.

As we move into our meditation,

Find yourself a comfortable seat and notice.

Just notice your breath,

Your body on the surface you are seated upon.

Feel the movement of your breath into your body and out.

Notice the firmness of your seat.

Notice your bones supported by this seat.

Begin to deepen your breath,

Counting your inhales as you move in with the breath.

One,

Two,

Three,

Four,

And out.

Four,

Three,

Two,

One.

Continue focusing on your breath in this way.

Finding equanimity in your inhale and exhales.

As you're breathing in this way,

You may notice thoughts and stories begin to enter your mind.

Maybe things that happened earlier or things that could be happening later.

Focus on your breath.

Focus on the now.

Start to visualize a sea of thoughts below you.

Chaotic waters.

Thoughts are swirling and swirling.

Like they seem,

But you are above it.

See yourself floating above these thoughts.

Gravity is absent.

You are weightless.

Moving through the air,

You notice as you've risen above the chaotic waters of your thoughts that the serene space you find yourself in is quiet.

The waters below never leave you.

They are always there.

You have this quiet place above it all where you can rise and find calm and stillness here.

Continue breathing in this quiet space.

Again,

Being a witness and noticing the things that may come up to try and disturb your peaceful state and letting them fall away back down into the chaotic waters below you.

Movies.

You are watching The Wahy Transaction Podcast forщ Attendant Commission Jamest 25 June 2019 If you found yourself attaching to any of the thoughts or stories that came up,

Let yourself detach.

Invite yourself to let go of that story.

Rise back up into your quiet space,

Counting your breath.

You can continue to stay here longer.

Continue to breathe to rise above the chaotic waters of your thoughts.

Or you can come back down.

Remember to find yourself in your present space,

Noticing the sounds,

The feelings around you.

Again,

Finding the feeling,

The sensation of being supported by your seat.

Feel the firmness there.

Begin to wiggle your fingers and toes or rotate your wrists and ankles,

Finding some movement in the body.

To end your practice,

Bring your hands to heart center,

Acknowledging the work that you did here today.

Sharing in a moment of gratitude.

Thank you for allowing me the honor of guiding you in your meditation today.

Be well.

Namaste.
