Welcome to our Loving-Kindness Meditation,

Also known as Metta Meditation.

Rooted in ancient Buddhist traditions,

A Loving-Kindness Meditation involves silently repeating mantras to generate feelings of goodwill,

Kindness,

And warmth.

I personally found this practice to help me immensely when I first started healing from narcissistic and emotional abuse.

Being able to forgive gave me the peace and calm I didn't expect.

As you engage,

Remember that it's natural for your mind to wander.

Whenever you notice your thoughts drifting,

Simply acknowledge them without judgment and gently redirect your focus back to the Loving-Kindness phrases.

Find a quiet,

Comfortable place to sit or lie down.

Take a deep breath in,

Filling your lungs with air,

And as you exhale,

Begin to let go of any tension or stress you might be holding onto.

Now picture yourself surrounded by a warm,

Glowing light.

This light represents kindness and love.

Feel it embracing you,

Comforting you,

Accepting you,

Just as you are.

Begin to silently recite the following Loving-Kindness phrases to yourself.

May I be happy.

May I be healthy.

May I be safe.

May I live with ease.

As you repeat these phrases,

Imagine each one as a gentle wish for yourself,

Nurturing your well-being and inner peace.

Now bring to mind someone that you love.

Picture them clearly in your mind's eye and extend this same Loving-Kindness to them.

May you be happy.

May you be healthy.

May you be safe.

May you live with ease.

Visualize your kind wishes and loving light wrapping around them,

Offering them comfort and joy.

Next,

Think of someone you feel neutral about,

Perhaps an acquaintance or a stranger.

Extend the light of Loving-Kindness to them as well.

May you be happy.

May you be healthy.

May you be safe.

May you live with ease.

Recognize our shared humanity and wish them well with sincerity.

Now if you're ready,

Bring to mind someone with whom you have difficulty.

This might be challenging,

But it's a powerful step in expanding your heart.

Send Loving-Kindness to them too.

May you be happy.

May you be healthy.

May you be safe.

May you live with ease.

Feel the barriers of resentment or discomfort soften as you offer these wishes.

Remember,

This practice is as much for your peace as it is for theirs.

Finally,

Let's extend our Loving-Kindness to all beings in the world.

Imagine sending out a wave of compassion from your heart,

Reaching out to touch every creature,

Every person,

Every heart with the desire for their well-being.

Together,

Let's repeat.

May all beings be happy.

May all beings be healthy.

May all beings be safe.

May all beings live with ease.

Envision the world bathed in the light of kindness that emanates from within you.

As we approach the end of our meditation,

Take a moment to notice any changes in your heart and mind.

Perhaps you feel a greater sense of connection,

Warmth,

Or openness.

Gently start to bring your awareness back to the present,

Moving your fingers and toes,

And when you're ready,

Slowly open your eyes.

Carry this Loving-Kindness with you as you move through your day.

Remember that you can return to these phrases and this feeling of unconditional love anytime you need a reminder of the compassion that resides within you.

May the peace and compassion you have fostered here extend far beyond this practice,

Touching every aspect of your life.

Until next time,

May you be happy.

May you be healthy.

May you be safe.

May you live with ease.
