Hi there,
Thank you for joining me for a short meditation practice.
I hope that by taking the time and the pause to be able to do this you will find some ease,
Some gentleness,
And some love for yourself and for life on this earth.
I'll invite you to begin by finding a comfortable position for yourself and you might want to practice with swaying your posture side to side,
Front to back,
Just to find a center of gravity.
Alternately it could be helpful to lean back and relax into a chair or onto a surface,
A bed,
A pillow.
When we practice meditation we have the opportunity to cultivate different qualities inside of ourselves.
So right here if you want to cultivate maybe some self-acceptance,
Maybe softening judgment,
See if you could find a posture in your body that is conducive to this practice.
This practice is called spaciousness and ease.
You might connect with your breathing and just taking note how the breathing is.
You might even be able to elongate the breath,
Deepen the breath into the belly,
Release it slowly,
Coming to a normal breath rhythm.
If it feels helpful for you in this practice I invite you to place your hand on your heart or somewhere on your body that communicates ease and acceptance.
Now just sitting.
Seeing if you can allow the busy parts and tension to be held by the space around you,
Feeling the space of the air that fills this room.
As you notice thoughts coming and going,
See if you can notice the space between the thoughts.
No need for too much striving here.
Just the right amount of effort.
As the body feels restful,
Held and secure on the ground of this earth,
Allowing the body to loosen its tensions,
To drop its weight to the earth element,
Allowing oneself to feel supported.
If you are witnessing pain or struggle inside of yourself,
That's very normal and that's okay here.
When we struggle against these things it tends to aggravate us more.
I'll invite you just to see how you can be with what you're experiencing,
As well as feeling as supported and spacious as possible in this practice.
You might notice as we come to the end of our practice a little bit more space in the mind,
A little bit more ease in the body,
Bringing your awareness again to the space around you,
The air element that fills the space that brings lightness and ease.
