This is a practice to help connect to your inner wisdom and support yourself during a time when you'd like to make a decision that feels big.
Wait until your body and mind feel calm and open.
It's hard to make thoughtful decisions when the mind is racing and the body is tense.
Take your time.
Even if there's an external deadline and it feels time sensitive,
Allow some space to relax.
When you're feeling ready,
Find a quiet space that feels cozy and comfortable.
Find ways to make this space,
And this time,
Sacred.
It's sacred because you're connecting to your heart,
To your deepest desires,
To what you really want for your life.
So honor that deep self-love,
Honor that deep self-care.
Maybe you sit by an altar with items that you've collected that feel meaningful and supportive to you.
Maybe you clear your space by burning some sage or incense.
Maybe you just snuggle in with lots of pillows and blankets on your bed.
Or maybe,
Like me,
You sit in a small dark closet and light some candles.
Really that's what I do.
Whatever you do,
Find ways to honor yourself in this moment that feel good to you.
And once you're in your special spot,
Sit or lie,
Or find a position that feels comfortable and relaxed.
Take a few slow,
Deep breaths in through the nose,
And out through the nose or the mouth.
Maybe sighing it out,
Taking a few more on your own time,
Allowing your breath to be slow and smooth,
Allowing your exhale to be slower and longer.
And each time you exhale,
Allow your body to relax into the support below you.
Trust that the earth is here to hold you.
Place one or both of your hands on your heart and apply some gentle pressure,
Giving yourself a loving rub.
Breathing into your heart and out of your heart,
Connecting to your beautiful heart,
Honoring the deep wisdom of your body and your heart.
And offer yourself an affirmation,
Maybe something like,
I trust you.
Or,
I believe in you.
Or,
Whatever decision you make,
I know that it's the best decision for you at this time,
And you will learn and grow so much.
Take some time to offer yourself some words of encouragement and support if that feels good.
You can also wrap yourself up in a big hug,
Or imagine a loved one giving you a big hug,
Or some other type of supportive touch.
Notice however this experience is for you.
No expectations,
No judgments,
Whatever is here is here,
It's allowed,
Just as it is.
Take a breath or two,
Feel the ground again,
Relax into the earth.
Now bring to mind the situation you'd like to make a decision about.
Try not to get too lost in stories or thinking about the past or the future.
Just simply bring the situation to mind.
Notice how you feel as you bring this to mind,
What emotions come up,
What body sensations.
Remembering it all can be here.
Begin to get curious,
Curious about this situation,
This experience.
You can ask yourself,
What feels true to me right now?
What feels important in this moment?
What do I deeply want or need right now?
Or maybe there's another question that feels pertinent to you in this moment.
Check in.
Ask yourself a few times.
And listen.
Listen to your heart.
Listen to your body.
What's here?
No expectation of what you should or should not hear or what should or should not happen,
Just what's here.
Do you notice emotions,
Energy,
Body sensations?
Keep asking and listening.
And if you don't feel or notice anything or hear anything,
Guess what?
That's great.
It's great because you're connecting to your heart and your body and their wisdom.
And it's a practice.
It takes time.
So keep going,
Keep asking and listening.
Sometimes simply putting the wish out to connect to your deeper wisdom is a shift in itself.
A wish is powerful,
Especially if you honor it and keep asking and keep trusting.
Keep trusting that you always know what's best for you,
Even if you don't know right away.
Ask and listen.
And you can sit here for as long as you'd like,
Asking and listening,
Honoring and trusting,
Mixing over and over again.
And before I go,
I'll leave you with a song that came to me the last time I was making a heart-centered decision,
Sitting in my dark cozy closet in candlelight.
I trust you,
My darling,
I trust you,
My darling,
Cause you have got this.
You have got this.
I trust you,
My darling,
I trust you,
My darling,
Cause you have got this.
You have got this.
When you do,
You've got this.
So keep going.
Bye for now.
