This exercise is designed to help uncover insight and understanding into the causes of suffering. To do this exercise we will be working with an emotional trigger. So before you begin the exercise, make sure you have a particular issue in mind that you would like to work with. Taking responsibility for the mind is the foundation of psychospiritual growth and the individuation process. It means coming to understand our own cravings, attachments and aversions, and how they point to our own inner conflicts. This does not excuse or deny what we encounter in the world, but it does help us to understand why it impinges on our own mind the way that it does.
