The Four of Cups is a card that represents emotional stability,

Introspection and the recognition of what truly matters to us.

It invites us to delve into our emotional world and be conscious of the value of what we already have.

In this exercise we will use active imagination to help us connect more deeply with these aspects of the Four of Cups and gain insight into our inner world.

So find a quiet and comfortable place to sit or lie down where you won't be disturbed.

Close your eyes.

Take a couple of deep breaths.

Allow your mind and body to relax naturally.

Just keep your attention on the sensation of the breath for now.

If at any point you do get distracted,

Just bring the attention back to the exercise.

Now imagine yourself in a peaceful forest,

In a clearing.

This tranquil space symbolizes the emotional stability represented by the Four of Cups.

Observe the details of your surroundings.

Notice the sights,

Sounds and scents.

Before you are four empty cups arranged neatly on the ground.

Take a moment to examine the cups,

Their color,

Shape,

Material and texture.

These cups are part of your inner world and each one holds a unique significance.

Next to the cups,

There is an ancient well inviting you to draw water from its depths.

Approach the well and retrieve a bucket of water.

Now pour the water from the well into the first cup.

As you do so,

Bring to mind a part of your life where you feel secure and content.

Imagine this feeling infusing the water as you fill the cup.

Now fill the second cup whilst reflecting on a valuable lesson or experience that has facilitated growth for you.

Again,

Allow the insights gained from this experience to imbue the water.

When filling the third cup,

Recall a time or situation where you demonstrated resilience.

Allow the memory to infuse the water.

Now it's time to fill the fourth cup.

This cup represents an aspect of your life or emotional world that requires more of your attention.

This time,

As the water flows,

It transforms into a different liquid,

Taking on a new form.

Take a moment now to observe the appearance,

Color,

And consistency of this liquid as you pour it into the cup.

With the four cups filled,

Allow yourself to take a deep breath.

Take some time with the feelings that emerged during this exercise as you sit in the peace and serenity of your surroundings.

Remember to bring the energy and insights gained with you to the next step.

So just bringing your attention back to the room now.

Noticing any sounds or sensations.

Letting go of all thoughts and emotions.

Noticing any sounds or sensations.

Taking a deep breath.

And opening your eyes again in your own time.
