By observing our breath and counting each inhale and exhale, we start to become aware of our ability to focus and sustain that focus. It is a wonderful tool to help train the mind and one I was taught in India when I spent time in Rishikesh in 2004. It has helped me many times to come back to the present moment and observe how quickly I can focus, but equally how quickly my mind wanders. I hope this practice will similarly help you build and maintain your ability to focus.
