A meditation for peace.
For those times when the world can just seem totally out of control and you feel as though the rug is being pulled from underneath your feet,
You feel wobbly,
You feel uncertain,
You feel shaky.
For those times when you really seriously cannot find security,
Comfort and peace,
When your usual distractions don't work,
I'd like to offer you this meditation for peace.
The Sat Narayan Wahi Guru meditation is a powerful kundalini yoga practice designed to cultivate deep inner peace,
Mental clarity and emotional calmness.
It's associated with the water element.
This mantra,
Sat Narayan Wahi Guru,
Hari Narayan Satnam,
It helps us to vibrate the reality of peace that we're all hoping to have as part of our lives.
When we chant this mantra,
We can allow our minds and bodies to relax into the sounds and surrender into a state of non-resistance or,
As with water,
Going with the flow.
The sound Narayan is related to the water element,
That which is cleansing,
That which flows.
We all come from the water and chanting this mantra cultivates this primal state of inner peace.
Once we feel it internally,
We can then project it outward and we can then bring peace into the world.
Peace begins at home,
Raising our own vibration so that we can then extend that out,
Far and wide.
Sit comfortably,
Either in a chair or on a meditation cushion,
But make sure you have a straight spine.
Before any kundalini practice,
We tune in.
We change our vibration,
Our frequency.
We raise our consciousness with Aum Namo Guru Deva Namo.
It means we're bowing down to that inner teacher within ourselves to guide us through this meditation.
So rub your hands together and bring them into prayer pose,
Pressing the palms firmly together at the heart space.
Thumbs against the sternum,
Elbows away.
Close your eyes.
We chant the mantra three times.
Deep inhale.
Aum Guru Deva.
Aum Guru Deva.
Aum Guru Deva.
Release your hands down and you're going to put them into Gyan Mudra.
That's your thumb and your index finger,
Lightly touching,
Backs of your hands resting on your knees.
Behind your closed eyes,
You're going to guide your eyes towards the third eye.
That is the space between your eyebrows.
Close the eyes and direct their focus towards the root of your nose.
The breath will naturally adjust as you chant the mantra.
The mantra is Sat Narayan,
Vaheguru.
Hari Narayan,
Satanam.
Sat Narayan,
True sustainer.
Vaheguru,
Indescribable wisdom.
Hari Narayan,
Creative sustainer.
Satanam,
True identity.
And now let's chant along with the mantra.
Sat Narayan,
Vaheguru.
Hari Narayan,
Satanam.
Sat Narayan,
Vaheguru.
Hari Narayan,
Satanam.
Sat Narayan,
Vaheguru.
Hari Narayan,
Satanam.
Sat Narayan,
Vaheguru.
Hari Narayan,
Satanam.
Sat Narayan,
Vaheguru.
Sat Narayan,
Sat Narayan,
Sat Narayan,
Sat Narayan,
Sat Narayan,
Sat Narayan,
Vaheguru.
Hari Narayan,
Vaheguru.
Sat Narayan,
Sat Narayan,
Sat Narayan,
Sat Narayan,
Sat Narayan,
Sat Narayan,
Sat Narayan,
Sat Narayan.
Inhale very deeply.
Raise your arms above your head and hold the breath.
Powerfully exhale.
Inhale again.
Hold the breath.
Have the arms raised up.
Hold.
Exhale the breath.
Lower your arms.
Bring them down to your lap and just sit quietly for a few moments.
Feel the vibrations of the mantra in you and around you.
As you rub your hands together and once again bring them into prayer pose,
Anjali Mudra.
Hands together at the centre of the chest.
We're going to chant three long Sat Nams to tune out of practice.
Deep inhale.
Spread peace,
Love and kindness wherever you go.
Don't let hatred,
Anger or prejudice cloud your vision.
Sat Nam.
