Find your meditation seat and enjoy this meditation that will help you to forgive yourself for that thing that is still weighing on you. Feel it wash away as your future (enlightened!) self gives you permission to forgive yourself because it was exactly what they needed to get them to where they are now.

Transcript

Begin by finding your comfortable seat.

Once you're there you can sit up tall through the spine,

Drop your shoulders down and back.

And then gently close your eyes.

Simply arrive here with yourself.

Allow your body to settle in here.

And simply be here.

Start to find the rhythm of your breath.

And follow,

Observe as the breath travels in through the nose,

Filling up the lungs,

And as it travels back out through the nose.

Watch this cycle here.

Bring yourself into this presence with the breath and with yourself.

When you find yourself distracted you can always return back here.

Your breath can be the anchor.

You can keep coming back here.

Keeping this focus and this presence will begin to travel in the mind's eye.

Begin to travel to a place where you can visit your future self.

Use your imagination,

Your curiosity to wonder where your future self may be.

You can travel to see them there,

Sit with them there.

Once you find where they are,

You can take a seat in front of them.

As you create this future version of yourself in front of you,

Create them with all of the best,

All of the highest qualities you can imagine.

Feel their beautiful presence,

Their love,

And all of the other qualities that they possess.

See them as the most ideal,

The most self-realized version of yourself you can imagine.

And see where they may have ended up.

Their surroundings are just as beautiful as them.

Maybe see where they live,

Who they're surrounded by,

What they may be doing.

Feel in awe of how far they have made it.

They've conquered all of the obstacles,

All of the challenges that they faced,

That you're facing.

And they got to this beautiful point in their life.

Be proud of them.

Just soak up all of their goodness,

All of their presence.

Now that you created this world with your future self in it,

You can now share with your future self one thing that you may have done recently or in the past that you're having trouble forgiving yourself for.

Maybe a mistake that you made,

Something you wish you had done differently.

Whatever it is,

You can tell them here without any judgment one thing that you cannot forgive yourself for or it feels hard to forgive yourself for.

Your future self listens to the situation.

They listen to what you have done in the past.

That hard moment,

That hard decision that you made.

And now your future self shares with you all of the ways in which that mistake or that moment helped them to get to where they are right now.

They would not be who they are now without that mistake,

Without that thing.

And now you can listen as your future self,

This beautiful being in front of you,

Tells you that they forgive you for what you did in the past.

Listen to them say these words.

Feel the relief,

Feel the weight lifted off of your heart as you listen to your future self.

And now in their comforting presence you can also say it to yourself.

You can say to yourself,

I forgive myself.

I forgive myself.

Say it as many times as you need,

As many times as you like.

Notice how it feels to express this,

To say this.

Now you can thank your future self for being here with you today.

You can give them a hug,

A smile,

Maybe an offering as a gesture of your gratitude.

You can give them something here.

And then ask them if they will stay with you,

If they'll stay close by so that you can visit them whenever you need.

Your future self happily agrees.

They say,

Yes,

Of course,

You can visit me here anytime.

You can always come back here.

You can imagine this future version of yourself as well as the scene around them start to all shrink down so it fits inside of this tiny,

Tiny little pearl that floats up to your head,

Nestles in,

And then travels down right to the center of your heart.

Feel your future self there with you in your heart center.

Allow yourself to slowly,

Gently come back to the physical body.

Once again,

You can watch the cycle of your breath traveling in and out.

You may place a hand or two on your heart and thank yourself for showing up for this practice today.

You can take another breath into the space of your heart and exhale it all the way out.

You can start to come back to the space that you're in.

Wiggle your toes,

Your fingers,

Blink the eyes a few times,

And come back.
