Welcome to Hopefulness.
We're going to spend the next few minutes refreshing our minds,
Relaxing our bodies,
And rejuvenating our spirits with a meditation designed to bring brightness into your immediate field of energy,
Into your mind and heart,
And deep down into your cellular structure,
Helping you feel lighter,
Happier,
And at the same time grounded and fortified with a powerful sense of hope.
In this meditation,
You will use your powers of visualization to transport you,
Where in a brief interlude,
You'll feel the transformative forces of nature guide you toward a sylvan studio of repose,
As you allow your imagination to take you for a walk down your own personal pathway to a still center of deep calm,
A place where happiness and hopefulness reside.
Let's get started.
Find a comfortable place to sit,
Either on the floor or in a chair,
And if you're in a chair,
Uncross your legs and put both feet flat on the floor.
Sit up tall,
Your back and spine straight.
Relax the small muscles in your neck that surround your cervical vertebrae,
And feel your head relax and your spine assume a resting state.
Lift your chin up.
Look out at the world,
Not down at your feet,
And close your eyes or lower your gaze.
Relax your shoulders and let your cares roll down in a way feeling your arms soften.
Take a deep breath through your nose and exhale out of your mouth,
And again,
Inhale and exhale.
Notice the rhythm and cadence of your breath and begin to regulate your breathing evenly,
Slowing it down and finding a comfortable rhythm,
Using the built-in metronome in the back of your mind to inhale to a count that fits and exhale to that same count.
Continue breathing to this rhythm as you relax and let go of stress.
Feel your muscles release tension.
Open your mind to imagination,
And in your mind's eye,
Visualize yourself stepping outside,
Out your door.
Feel a soft breeze wrap around your arms.
Notice the warmth of the sun on your face.
Lift your chin up to that warmth and let your body relax.
As you continue to breathe in your own rhythm,
Imagine the sound of the wind rustling the uppermost treetops,
The sound of leaves whispering to each other.
You faintly hear a bird call in the distance,
The slight vibration of song.
Warm and relaxed,
You inhale deeply and exhale fully.
In visualizing a tree-lined path in front of you,
You take a step onto it and begin to walk.
Breathing evenly,
Rhythmically,
You feel the soft dirt beneath your feet and smell the fragrance of the trees and grasses.
You look ahead down your path and see it bathed in a diaphanous deep blue mist as you continue to put one foot in front of the other.
Hidden beyond the trees,
You can hear the faint sound of water dancing in a secluded spring.
As you gaze ahead,
You notice that you can see unusually far,
A distance that if you were in a city would be more than three to four blocks.
A wave of anticipation for what lies ahead makes your heart swell as you continue to walk and breathe.
Looking beyond the hazy blue mist,
You see something far away,
Small,
A small bright cloud.
A small bright light glowing in the distance.
You continue to walk toward this light,
Past the faint calls of birdsong and the soothing,
Healing sound of water,
All the while breathing in nature's aromatherapy,
The fragrant flora of this still and quiet path.
As you come closer to this distant light,
It begins to glow brighter,
Bigger,
More luminous.
Breathing methodically,
You inhale and exhale and walk on.
You feel a warmth spilling toward you as this glowing light takes on a pure incandescence.
You feel it fill your heart.
You let it invade your mind.
You can feel its healing vibration entering into the cells of your body with a sparkling golden radiance.
As you come closer,
You begin to see clearly and recognize this light,
Its hope,
Standing in all its brilliance right in front of you with arms open,
Ready to aid you,
To shield you,
To stand with you,
To walk down your path with you.
Ever present,
The light of hope is there to lift you up when you stumble and send you its glowing signal when you've lost sight of it,
Easing your journey,
Giving you comfort,
Alleviating today's worries and warding off the fear of tomorrow's unknowns.
As hope surrounds you,
You find your steps to be effortless,
Walking with a reassurance that this bright light is accompanying you along your path,
Guiding you past negativity,
Self-doubt,
Or feelings of despair,
And helping you dare to believe in a future filled with promise.
You breathe easier,
Your head lifted up,
Looking forward,
Fortified to bravely face what comes your way,
Discarding anxiety,
Letting stress dissolve and fade away,
And opening your mind and heart to the full potentiality within life's infinite possibilities.
You feel your spirit renewed and your mind boundless.
This deep,
Profound sense of hopefulness surrounding you cascades through your body with a strong vibrational pull that you feel on a cellular level,
Transported to a pure and blissful state of optimism,
Comforted and grounded in this safe haven,
Encouraged,
Daring to believe in what's possible,
Knowing hope is always right there to walk beside you,
Shining a light down your path,
With faith trailing behind like the glittering tail of a shooting star.
Basking in this glow of confidence,
You visualize yourself back where you began and taking a deep breath,
Step back indoors,
Bringing your awareness back into the room where you are,
Feeling your body sitting in its position,
Noticing the measured rhythm of your breath,
The relaxation streaming through your muscles,
The feeling of an expansive and open mind and a welcoming radiance emanating from your heart.
As you open your eyes or lift your gaze,
Allow these good vibrations to engulf you,
Feeling the power in this moment,
Envisioning a bright path in front of you with a renewed awareness that if you can acknowledge them,
Hope and faith stand waiting to accompany you every step of the way in all that you do.
