Welcome to In the Flow with Lori Albert,
A brief,
Positivity-inspiring chat and meditation designed to uplift and motivate us to live our best lives.
Let's get in the flow.
What I want to talk about today is this.
You know how when everything starts kind of falling apart,
You know,
And you have these things,
Whether it's due to like events that happen or things that,
Something that,
You know,
We might do,
Or even if it's something that's out of anybody's control,
When things start kind of just collapsing,
You know,
I just,
I hate that,
Right?
Don't we all?
I mean,
Obviously we all hate that,
Right?
Sometimes things just don't work out the way that you anticipate them to.
And you start going down this rabbit hole of,
Oh crap,
You know,
This is terrible or this sucks,
You know,
Or,
Oh my God,
The world is falling apart.
We've all been there.
I mean,
We all do that at least occasionally,
Right?
Okay,
I'm just going to say it this way.
Someone very close to me had,
Okay,
Fine,
I'll just say it.
My husband had this situation with his email over the weekend and it was not good,
Right?
And I could see him going down the rabbit hole,
Like,
Because you know,
You know how it is when you're,
When you're,
When the tech stuff starts happening and everything starts going or you know,
Happening to that,
You know,
Things start going crazy.
You go down that rabbit hole,
Right?
But here's the deal.
How do we deal with all those things,
Tech or not,
That life throws us?
Life is gonna throw us the junk.
I mean,
It's just true,
Right?
So I could say to you that meditation helps everything and meditation is the be all end all and it can be,
But so many people just do not want to hear that,
Right?
Not necessarily everybody wants to hear that meditation,
You know,
Stop and stop dropping and stop dropping meditate,
Right?
You know,
That's it.
If you can,
Meditation is like a great way to go,
Right?
But when something,
But here's the question,
What is something real world that we can do to help us deal with those stupid,
Horrible stresses when you know that stuff hits the fan?
Do you know what I'm saying?
What is something that,
What is stuff that we can do to not go down that rabbit hole?
Now,
Here's the thing.
This isn't ever to take the place of like therapy or under a doctor's care.
I'm not talking about that kind of stuff.
I'm talking about those moments of stuff.
You know what I mean?
Like when your email goes out or when the internet goes out.
Dare I even say that,
Right?
Now,
Here's my thing.
One thing that I do to jolt myself into being in the present moment,
Because obviously that is where I'm going,
Right?
One of my go-tos on that,
Because I can't always just sit and like have something happen and then go meditate on it.
To me,
That's pie in the sky.
That's great stuff if you can do it,
But it's not always available.
Like you can't just like at work or whatever.
You can't just stop what you're doing.
So you know what I do?
I put the reminder on my phone to go and be in the present moment.
The present moment.
That's where the good stuff is.
That's where the power is.
And I know I say this all the time and I've said this a gazillion times probably in the past,
Like whatever,
Three weeks or whatever,
Because there's been stress.
But I take my phone and I put reminders on there.
Oh,
You guys would laugh if you saw all the reminders that come up on my phone during the course of a day.
Stay grateful.
Sometimes I want to go clink.
Right?
So stay grateful.
Be present.
Right?
There's another one that I do.
Stop.
This one is like my new favorite one because I change them.
You know,
Stop and look around.
Stop and look around.
Oh my gosh.
And you know what?
Oh,
It's fantastic because even if I'm okay,
And I'm not saying that everybody should do this,
But even if I'm driving,
Right?
And I get that reminder,
All of a sudden I'll be like,
Oh,
Where are we?
What are we doing?
Right?
I really,
Really,
Really think that staying present is one of the most important things you can do during stressful times when stressful things happen.
This is the growth that I talk about.
Right?
This is the growth.
Yeah.
And what's so great about this is that,
You know,
David G talks so much about pattern interrupt.
Now,
If you follow him,
You've probably heard him talk about that,
But it could not be more true and it couldn't be more,
You know,
Real life.
We need that pattern interrupt.
That thing that jolts you into realizing that everything is absolutely okay in this present moment.
Right?
Okay,
So you're mad about the email.
Fine,
Right?
Things are messing up.
The Internet's off,
Whatever it is,
Right?
You stop and you look around and you say,
You know what,
Though?
Right here in this present moment,
Life is actually kind of okay.
Life is pretty good.
You know?
Okay,
The Internet's out,
But guess what?
My husband's over there,
My wife's over there,
My kids are healthy,
My whatever,
You know?
And again,
That kind of goes back to the gratitude.
But if you sit in that moment of gratitude and you sit in that present moment,
Right?
Because that's what we talk about.
We take that moment of being grateful in this moment right here,
Right now.
And that is where your power sits inside you.
The power is in the present moment.
The power is in the present moment.
Because when you allow yourself to get caught up in that moment of,
Oh,
The Internet,
You know,
It's off,
Right?
When you allow yourself to get caught up,
You turn your power over.
You're turning your power over to the Internet.
The Internet gods,
Right?
You're turning your power over to somebody else or something else,
Right?
So when we stay in that present moment and we realize that,
You know what,
Okay,
So the Internet's off,
The gas,
I don't even know why I'm saying this,
The gas is off,
The,
You know,
All of this stuff,
Right?
We're here.
We are alive.
We are breathing.
Beautiful,
Right?
I don't know.
To me,
That strikes me.
That hits me in my heart.
I mean,
We all have stress.
We all have stress.
But stopping and turning around and looking around you is where your power is.
That's our superpower.
Absolutely.
Let's get ourselves comfortable.
We're going to have a fantastic,
What I think is a fantastic affirmation that we're going to meditate on today.
So let's get ourselves comfy.
Get ourselves comfy comfy.
Things are tickling me.
Oh,
Look.
Okay.
Don't you love when everything falls apart?
So I'm looking around.
Life is beautiful.
So let's get ourselves comfy.
And,
Oh,
Don't we need?
I know.
It's morning.
Let's take a beautiful,
Deep cleansing breath in really slow and long.
Breathe in through your nose.
And release.
Right there is where your power is in the breath.
Right?
I'm going to remember that all day long.
Right now.
The power is in the breath.
Love that.
So let's do that again.
Do really,
Really slow and long and deep.
Breathe in.
And release.
Perfect.
So our affirmation,
Our mantra for today is this.
I am present in the here and now,
Knowing that the power within me is my truth.
That makes me teary eyed.
I am present in the here and now,
Knowing that the power within me is my truth.
I'll say it one more time.
I am present in the here and now,
Knowing that the power within me is my truth.
Now,
You may lose the mantra or forget part of it.
You can always go back to your breath.
You can always.
It can sometimes it gets shortened just on your own.
I am present in the here and now.
That's all we really need.
Right?
So I will keep the time.
Let's begin.
I am present in the here and now,
Knowing that the power within me is my truth.
I am present in the here and now,
Knowing that the power within me is my truth.
I am present in the here and now,
Knowing that the power within me is my truth.
I am present in the here and now,
Knowing that the power within me is my truth.
I am present in the here and now,
Knowing that the power within me is my truth.
I am present in the here and now,
Knowing that the power within me is my truth.
I am present in the here and now,
Knowing that the power within me is my truth.
I am present in the here and now,
Knowing that the power within me is my truth.
I am present in the here and now,
Knowing that the power within me is my truth.
I am present in the here and now,
Knowing that the power within me is my truth.
Beautiful.
We can take that with us wherever we go today.
I am present in the here and now,
Knowing that the power within me is my truth.
Whenever you feel comfortable,
You can open your eyes and look around at your truth.
Namaste.
