Trust In The Universe!
by Lauri Albert
We all have disappointments, don’t we? How about we try trusting in the Universe & see where that takes us? My dear friend, Pierre Bensusan, has permitted me to use his track called ‘Sentimentales Pyromaniaques’ from the album 'Altiplanos'.

Let's begin our day with a little bit of happy talk and meditation in this short yet impactful podcast designed to infuse a little bit of positivity into each moment of every day.
Let's get in the flow.
Today we're going to talk about disappointments.
You know,
Here's the thing though,
We all have disappointments,
Don't you think?
I mean,
We all have things that happen that are incredibly disappointing,
Right?
They can be really difficult to overcome and overwhelming.
They can be big,
Huge disappointments,
Or they can be small ones,
But either way they're disappointments nonetheless,
Right?
Sometimes they are related to our self-esteem,
Right?
And sometimes they are just related to situations that are in our control or even beyond our control,
But whatever the case,
They make us feel down.
They lower our vibration,
Right?
So how do we deal with that?
How do we get over that feeling so down when things happen?
How do we get over that?
Well,
Obviously there are probably quite a few things I can say because there's a lot we can do,
Right?
Recognizing it first is like really kind of important to do,
Recognizing that you're feeling disappointed or down or whatever,
Right?
But a long time ago I read the book When Things Fall Apart by Pema Shodron.
Oh my gosh.
She just,
You know what I know,
I've probably said this a thousand times,
But what I love about her,
She's so real.
She's from like New York,
Right?
And she's a Buddhist nun from New York.
So she talks like that.
And I love that.
I love,
I've always loved straight talk.
Talk to me in real terms.
Don't like sugar coat it.
Don't like be all perfect.
I don't want perfection.
I want real,
You know,
That's what I love.
So anyway,
That's how she talks.
If you don't,
If you're not familiar with her.
So the book is called When Things Fall Apart and there's this one quote in there that just says it all.
Okay.
To me.
All right.
So I'm going to read it here if I can.
Oh,
Letting,
Okay.
This is what she says in the book.
Letting there be room for not knowing is the most important thing of all.
This is relating to disappointments.
Letting I'm going to read that again.
Letting there be room for not knowing is the most important thing.
When there's a big disappointment,
We don't know if it's the end of the story.
Key point there.
It may just be the beginning of a great adventure.
Life is like that.
We don't know anything.
We call something bad.
We call something good,
But we really just don't know.
I mean,
To me,
That is like light bulbs going off.
That is like,
That's aha moment for me.
You know,
When we realize the idea that just because something happens that makes us sad or even happy,
I mean the way she approaches it there,
Right?
It doesn't necessarily mean that it's good or bad.
It feels bad,
But what if it's actually the beginning of something really,
Really awesome?
Like Pema says,
We just don't know.
And then she goes on later on in the book,
She goes on to talk about how that feeling of this is the end or whatever,
Robs us of being in the present moment.
And that just,
I mean,
You know,
That says it all right there because living in the present moment is where everything is.
Like your life happens in the present moment.
Like right now,
Right here,
Right now,
Life is pretty great.
Life is great.
Life is perfect.
God,
I love that,
Right?
Sitting in the present moment.
And that's to me where,
You know,
Meditation actually is what helped me realize so,
So much the present moment,
Like living in the right here,
Right now.
And it motivates me every day.
I mean,
I'm kind of hoping that it does you guys too,
If you think about it.
It motivates me to want to go out and do something.
And I don't mean like,
You know,
Going for a joy ride or,
Or,
You know,
Go swimming or something like that.
I mean,
It can mean that,
But I mean that like it motivates me to go do something in like life,
You know?
So yeah.
So that is what we are going to meditate on today.
Great,
Right?
Love that.
So let's get ourselves comfortable because I want us to meditate on this.
I want us to really understand that trusting the universe,
Because that's where this is all going,
Right?
Right?
It's all about living in the present moment and trusting that we are being taken care of.
Whether it's by God,
Universe,
Spirit,
Whatever.
So let's get ourselves comfy,
Comfy cozy,
However that looks like for you.
You know,
And like I say periodically,
Don't worry about sitting properly.
In terms of this,
You know,
I sort of,
Well,
No,
I shouldn't say sort of.
I actually really want beginners to know or people that just meditate once in a while that the only wrong meditation is the one you don't do,
Right?
So sitting cross-legged,
Feet flat on the floor,
Whatever feels right to you.
For me,
It's like the best one is the one,
The best way to sit is cross-legged in my meditation chair that I'm sitting in right now and just sitting with my palms up.
You know,
You don't have to worry about hand mudras for this,
You know?
I mean you can get into all of that later once you really start to get into meditation.
So let's get ourselves comfortable,
Close your eyes whenever it feels right.
Let's take a nice deep breath in really long and slow through your nose and out your mouth.
Breathe in,
Hold it,
Hold it,
Hold it,
Release.
Very gently.
Perfect.
Perfect,
Perfect.
So going back to the basics,
What are you grateful for?
We've said a little bit of that,
Being grateful,
But think in your mind for all those things.
Make a list.
What are you grateful for?
What is going,
What is good about your life right now?
Right here,
Right now,
In this present moment.
What are you grateful for?
Very good.
It puts a smile on your face,
Yes?
So our mantra for today is one of my very favorites and I try to say this to myself every single day.
Today I place my trust in the universe.
Today I place my trust in the universe.
Today I place my trust in the universe.
I will keep the time,
Keep saying that to yourself over and over again.
If you lose the mantra,
Absolutely okay.
Just come back and focus on your breath.
Focus on your breath and let's begin.
Today I place my trust in the universe.
Today I place my trust in the universe.
Today I place my trust in the universe.
Today I place my trust in the universe.
Today I place my trust in the universe.
Today I place my trust in the universe.
Today I place my trust in the universe.
Today I place my trust in the universe.
Today I place my trust in the universe.
Today I place my trust in the universe.
Today I place my trust in the universe.
Today I place my trust in the universe.
Today I place my trust in the universe.
Today I place my trust in the universe.
Please.
Very good.
You can open your eyes whenever you feel comfortable.
How awesome.
So I invite you to take that affirmation with you the rest of the day.
Today I place my trust in the universe.
And that will help,
Or it should help,
With all the overwhelm or any disappointments.
Namaste.
