Let's begin our day with a little bit of happy talk and meditation in this short yet impactful podcast designed to infuse a little bit of positivity into each moment of every day.
Let's get in the flow.
Ram Dass,
If you're familiar with him,
Famously said,
Be here now.
He has a book called that,
Which is amazing,
And I absolutely recommend it to anybody.
But you know,
I was thinking that,
You know,
We can take that even further into the other sort of important aspects of our lives as well,
Because it's about being present right here right now,
Being present.
So be happy now.
I know.
Okay,
So I want to qualify some of that,
Right?
Okay,
So be happy now,
Be here now.
It's about being present,
About being happy in the moment,
Right?
And I know I get actually kind of irritated when people are like,
Especially spiritual teachers that are like,
Oh,
Just be happy.
And it's like,
Well,
You know,
Really,
How do you,
You can't flip a switch and just be happy when you're when you've been depressed for a long period of time or whatever sad,
You know,
It's difficult to do that.
Life isn't like that.
Unless you learn and you practice how to live in the present moment.
Living in the present moment,
Rids us of our depression of the events of the past and our worry about the future.
So if you think about it,
Our actual life is in this moment.
Right now,
You are living right here,
Right now.
So all of that sense that we don't have to consider the past,
You know,
We don't have to consider the past or the future in that point.
Think about it.
In this split second is when life is happening.
There's a freedom that goes with that,
Don't you think?
There's a serious freedom.
And in that split second,
We do have a choice.
In this moment,
In this moment,
And again,
I promise you it takes it does take practice.
You do have a choice.
So all day long,
I can sit and say to myself,
Okay,
Right now,
I choose happy.
Right in this second.
Yes,
I know that that's not grammatically correct.
That's not grammatically correct.
I get that.
That's kind of Lori speak.
I like to sit for I don't know why but it feels good when I say it.
I choose happy,
You know.
So now that is a great way to get the process of changing your being,
You know,
To a happier place.
But I want to say if you're going to a doctor,
You're going to therapy,
You're in in doing different things,
Never stop that.
Never stop that.
Okay.
If you're going to doctor's appointments,
Don't stop this.
It's about doing this in tandem with that work.
Just saying.
But if you start and you want to start by switching out that old mindset,
Just a bit.
If you do that,
Other things will start to come into your life and great things will start to happen and you will notice that change to a happier place.
So being happy is a subject I could talk about literally all day because it's important to talk about obviously,
But it's there's so much to it.
There's so many different sort of aspects to teaching yourself how to change your mindset.
I could literally talk about it all day,
But we are going to meditate instead.
Okay.
So let's get ourselves comfy.
Sit in your chair.
Be comfortable however that looks for you.
You know,
Especially when you're first starting out.
I mean later on when you start to do advanced,
You know,
If you're getting more advanced and you starting to meditate,
Sitting longer and that sort of thing,
You might want to do the hand mudras or you might want to sit with your feet flat on the floor or,
You know,
Certain things.
But when you're first beginning and you're just getting into that,
Be comfortable.
You know,
Why not?
Doesn't have to be as long as you're doing it and starting with 10 minutes.
Start with 10 minutes.
That's just,
I don't know.
That's just what spirit always tells me to say.
So,
All right,
Let's close our eyes and take a nice deep breath in.
And release.
Let's start out by considering all those things.
And you can start out with two or three.
Doesn't have to be 20.
Things that you are grateful for.
Listen to yourself,
What am I absolutely grateful for today?
What is it that's going great for you that you feel thankful for and grateful for?
Very good.
Just even considering the gratitude that you have for the things in your life can really help you switch that mindset.
Flip that over.
So our mantra for today is we're going to sit in the stillness.
Our mantra for today is right here,
Right now,
I choose happy.
And if you have a problem with my grammar,
It's okay.
You can say I choose happiness,
Whatever works for you.
Right here,
Right now,
I choose happy.
Right here,
Right now,
I choose happy.
So if you lose the mantra,
If you lose your place,
Forget,
That's absolutely okay.
Or if you have thoughts,
Just gently move them aside the thoughts and come back to the mantra or your breath.
Inside I'm breathing in and out.
And I will keep the time and let's begin.
Right here,
Right now,
I choose happy.
Right here,
Right now,
I choose happy.
Right here,
Right now,
I choose happy.
Let's begin.
