Let's begin our day with a little bit of happy talk and meditation in this short,
Yet impactful podcast designed to infuse a little bit of positivity into each moment of every day.
Let's get in the flow.
I love hearing other people's thoughts on different subjects and philosophies.
I love reading quotes about people's philosophies on different things.
I decided recently to research this a bit and get people's thoughts through history on positive thinking because that's what we have to do on a daily basis is think positive.
I know I try to think positively every single day and all the time,
But I wanted to get other people's perspectives of it.
I found all these quotes on the power of positive thinking.
What's fascinating is that as we go through,
There's an aspect to finding these quotes and reading these quotes from all these people that I'm going to share with you.
But I'm going to take three because I found a few that just blew my mind.
The first quote that I'm going to share with you about this is attributed to Martha Washington.
She was the wife of the US's first president.
She was born in 1731.
This quote is basically from the 1700s.
The greater part of our happiness or misery depends on our dispositions and not on our circumstances.
We carry the seeds of the one or the other with us in our minds wherever we go.
She was actually known for keeping up positive.
She talked a lot about being happy and that I know,
But this quote was like,
Okay,
It's in your mind.
You can carry it with you.
That's number one.
Then number two,
The very famous English poet,
John Milton.
He was born in,
And there's a reason why I'm telling you what year they're born,
1608.
Famous poet,
Obviously,
And this is his quote on positive thinking.
The mind is its own place and in itself can make a heaven of hell or a hell of heaven.
Very interesting.
Technical difficulties.
I can make a heaven out of a hell of the technical difficulties that I have for myself.
The choice is up to me.
So then the last quote I'm going to share is from the Upanishads,
Which is a very famous ancient text written in the 19,
I'm sorry,
What am I saying?
900 to 600 BC.
So this is old spiritual text.
This is the quote.
Let one therefore keep the mind pure for what a man thinks that he becomes.
Seriously,
They were talking about the power of your mind all the way back in ancient times.
I could go on and on and on with these quotes,
Right?
But honestly,
When I read these types of quotes and basically they say the same thing.
Isn't that amazing?
I don't know.
For me,
I find that absolutely incredible.
It makes me realize that throughout time people have realized the power that we have in our minds to create the heaven from hell or you can create a hell out of heaven.
Such a deep thought,
Right?
And it's so applicable.
Having technical difficulties,
I get to choose how I respond,
How my brain responds to whatever it is.
Isn't that fascinating?
To me,
That's just fascinating.
We have choices.
I just find that so incredible because as we go through life and as we go through our challenges,
I met somebody yesterday who is going through a breakup and how do I get through this?
How do I get through this?
And I thought to myself,
Okay,
You have a choice.
You can either sit and wallow in the breakup or you can maybe think that there is a possibility that maybe the universe was starting to clear your way for something better to come.
We have a choice.
We can make a hell out of heaven or a heaven out of hell.
I love that.
Oh my gosh,
How much I love that,
Right?
So we're going to meditate on this today.
Our choices,
Our choice in how we choose to think.
And let me just throw this one little thing before we start to meditate,
Right?
It takes time to change those thoughts.
If you're the type of person,
And there's all types of people,
I'm not making anybody wrong or anybody right in this,
Right?
It can take time to change the thought patterns around.
It did for me.
You know,
I mean,
I've always been kind of a positive,
Happy person,
But when I started to really pay attention to my mind,
My mind and my thoughts,
I started to realize that sometimes I had negative thoughts.
And you know what?
So now I'm really,
I've been doing this a long time,
But I am fairly decent,
Let's just say,
At when something negative happens,
Like technical difficulties,
Something happens.
I'll sit in the second and I'll be like,
Oh man,
And I,
You know,
And be really frustrated.
But then all of a sudden rephrase,
Reframe it,
Reframe it,
Rephrase it,
Laurie,
Rephrase it in your mind.
That's the choice.
And that's,
You know,
The catching of it is the thing.
So all right,
So anyway,
We're going to meditate on this and we're going to meditate on an interesting aspect of this.
Okay,
So we're going to meditate on the purification of our minds and our hearts.
Okay,
So let's get ourselves comfy.
Relax your body.
Relax your mind.
Close your eyes when it feels right.
Let's take a nice deep breath in and release.
Perfect.
So let's start out with,
And you know what I'm going to say,
Some gratitude,
Thoughts of gratitude.
What are a couple things that you are grateful for?
And don't just say,
Let's,
I'm going to challenge you a little bit on this today.
Let's,
We don't need to talk necessarily about our coffee or this.
Go deep into your heart today.
What is,
Okay,
Even if you can't come up with five things or even three things,
What's one thing that's deep in your heart that you are absolutely grateful for?
One thing.
One thing.
That's a great phrase to be able to say to yourself when things are down,
What is one thing to be happy about?
And once you really go deep into your heart about it,
It's perfect.
So our mantra for today is Om Ah Hum.
Om Ah Hum.
What this is?
Perfection of mind,
Speech,
And heart.
Om Ah Hum.
So I'm going to keep the time and let's begin this beautiful mantra,
Perfection of mind,
Speech and heart.
Om Ah Hum.
Just keep repeating it to yourself.
Let's begin.
Om Ah Hum.
Om Ah Hum.
Om Ah Hum.
Om Ah Hum.
Om Ah Hum.
Om Ah Hum.
Om Ah Hum.
Om Ah Hum.
Om Ah Hum.
Om Ah Hum.
Om Ah Hum.
Om Ah Hum.
Om Ah Hum.
Bringing your awareness back to our bodies.
Let's take a nice deep breath in.
Very gently release it.
Perfect.
You can open your eyes whenever you feel like it's right.
Namaste.
