This short guided meditation will help singers and other musicians (or any other performer!) connect with the breath, become present in the body, and balance energy so that you feel calm and steady while also enjoying the excitement of performing. This meditation can be used right before a performance or in mental practice or visualization sessions to help navigate performance anxiety or simply improve performance skills. Transcript

Take a moment to connect with your breath and allow it to deepen.

With each inhale,

Allow your body to soften and release anything you wish to release in this moment.

Imagine as the breath moves into your body,

It creates space.

As your breath moves out of your body,

You relax even more deeply.

Breathe space into your ribcage.

Your belly.

Your entire torso.

Visualize lightness,

Spaciousness in your shoulders,

Your neck,

And your throat.

Enjoy this feeling of spaciousness in your body.

Lightness into the bones of your skull and your jaw.

Your tongue resting behind your lower front teeth.

Imagine and visualize that lightness,

That spaciousness spreading behind your eyes,

Into your eyeball.

Place of calmness,

And sea,

And spaciousness.

Imagine yourself standing backstage,

Waiting to walk on.

Think about how it feels to wait backstage.

Feel the excitement.

At the same time,

Feel your feet.

All strong,

Stable.

The body is relaxed,

Spacious,

Energized,

Grounded,

And strong,

Also free.

The energy moving through your body feels wonderful,

Held,

Excited,

And filled with joyful anticipation.

You get to walk on stage in a moment and do one of your favorite things in the world,

Share music with others.

You inhale and notice that your breath is moving easily and steadily.

Exhale,

And centered.

You are moments from walking on stage,

And you can feel the energy of the crowd,

So happy to see you.

As you step behind them,

You immediately recognize the happy place that you occupy there.

It is safe.

It is comfortable.

It is fun.

It is powerful.

You are safe.

You are fun.

You are full.

You smile and surrender fully to the beauty of this moment.
