This is a Loving-Kindness or Metta meditation. In this meditation, we direct a series of specific phrases of good wishes. First towards ourselves and then towards others. Over time this practice cultivates feelings of compassion, love, and empathy. Even if you feel that some parts of the meditation might make you feel contrary to loving-kindness.
