You will be invited to perform a meditation.
During the meditation,
You will be invited to pause the exercise and answer a few questions about the meditation themes.
Then there will be a brief writing activity.
Right now,
I want you to close your eyes and relax for a few minutes.
You may notice thoughts or worries come up during the exercise.
That's okay.
Notice the thoughts and let them pass through your mind like leaves floating in a stream.
No judgment.
Just notice the thoughts and come back to the now.
The now in this exercise in this room at this very moment.
Now,
I want you to imagine that through some twist of fate,
You've died.
But you are able to attend your funeral in spirit.
You are watching and listening to the eulogies offered by your partner,
Your children,
Your closest friends,
And so on.
Imagine being there with all the emotions that may come with it.
Now,
I want you to visualize what you would like these loved ones to remember you for.
What would your partner say about you?
Have them say it.
Be bold here.
Let them say exactly what you would most want them to say if you had totally free choice about what that would be.
Please pause the recording here.
Write down your thoughts about your future spouse's words and then continue with the meditation.
Now,
What would you like your children to remember you for as a parent?
Again,
Don't hold back.
If you could have them say anything,
What would it be?
Even if you don't have children yet,
Or even if you do have children,
But you haven't actually lived up to what you want,
Let them say it as you would most want it to be.
Please pause again and write down your thoughts.
Now,
What would you like your closest friends and other loved ones to say about you as a companion?
What would you like to be remembered for by your friends and loved ones?
Let them say these things and don't hold back.
Please pause and write down any thoughts about what your friends and loved ones would say about you.
When you're ready,
Gently come back to the room,
To the here and now.
