Hi,
I'm Kendall.
In this meditation,
I'll guide you into the role of the observer.
To begin,
Make yourself as comfortable as possible.
Either sitting or laying down in a way that feels gentle and easy.
Allow your eyes to close or soften your focus.
Relax into the present moment and welcome it as it is.
No need to control or change anything.
Notice your inner world as it is today and how there are parts of you that can move and feel and think.
As you acknowledge those parts,
Notice how there is another part of you that can simply observe the movements,
Feelings,
And thoughts.
This part that can observe we call the observer.
The observer can notice physical sensations,
Emotions,
Or thoughts,
But isn't directly involved with them.
The physical sensations,
Emotions,
And thoughts are free to come and go and fluctuate while the observer observes them with curiosity.
The observer doesn't categorize or decide what's good or bad.
It simply notices.
See if you can tap into that part of yourself now and throughout this meditation.
Take time now to check in with the physical sensations present in your body.
Notice the sensations without needing to change them.
Just see what's there.
Observe your hands and feet.
Arms and legs.
Hips and shoulders.
Welcome sensation without needing to control or change it.
Observe the sensation of your torso and back.
Abdomen and chest.
And the sensations within your torso,
Like the coming and going of your breath.
No need to control the breath.
Just notice it as it fluctuates.
Taking a few moments now to observe the physical sensations of your body.
Bring awareness to your emotions.
As you observe what emotions are most present today.
Take a few moments to acknowledge your emotional state.
And welcome it into your awareness without control.
Just a few moments here to observe emotions that are present within you today and allow them to fluctuate and move just like the physical sensations in your body.
Now,
Bring awareness to your mind.
Notice the part of your mind that is actively thinking and observe it.
As you observe,
Do you notice any categories of thoughts?
Thoughts regarding the past or the future,
Judgments,
Comparisons,
Inner dialogues.
None of this is wrong or bad,
Just thoughts to be noticed objectively.
Take a few minutes now and give yourself permission to think as much as you want.
While you sit back and simply observe the thoughts as they come and go.
Just noticing.
Notice how the role of the observer allows you to invite a sense of detachment from any physical sensations,
Emotions,
Or thoughts.
Perhaps even welcome a sense of relief from any unhelpful inner dialogues,
Anxieties,
Worries,
Or physical discomfort.
Notice how the role of the observer creates space between you and your thinking and doing mind.
And take a moment to rest in the awareness.
That you have the ability to tap into the role of the observer anytime you need.
It's always with you,
It just needs to be acknowledged to help distinguish the thinking and doing mind from the one that just observes.
Rest for a few minutes more here,
Practicing staying in the role of the observer.
We'll take a few more minutes here.
I'll mind the time and let you know when it's time to wrap up this practice.
For now,
Just continue to breathe and observe.
Now deepen your breath and prepare to move into the next part of your day,
Keeping a piece of this practice with you.
You can stretch or move or whatever allows you to come back into your body.
And when you're ready,
Blink your eyes a few times,
Readjusting to the light.
Looking around your space and reorienting.
This practice is here for you anytime you need to be reminded of the value of the nonjudgmental observer that resides within you.
Thanks so much for practicing with me today.
I hope to see you again soon.
