Hello and welcome to your meditation.
Today's meditation is going to focus on our old friend,
The green-eyed monster,
Jealousy and envy.
So find yourself in a comfortable seat either on the ground or in a chair or perhaps lying down.
Take a moment here to check in with your breath and your thoughts.
Take a nice smooth inhale through your nose and exhale release out your mouth.
And you can keep your eyes open or closed,
Whatever suits you best today.
Have you ever felt those pangs of jealousy or envy when a friend or someone you know does something or obtain something that you would like to have or do?
We've all felt that way before.
Perhaps somebody changed careers,
Opened a new business,
Quit a job or maybe they got that new purse or toy you've been looking to purchase for yourself.
We find those moments where we get envious and jealous and that green-eyed monster comes out.
We've all felt these feelings before over someone or something and it's completely normal.
But when we compare ourselves with others because of the things that they have or the things that they've done or accomplished,
This can become detrimental to our mental health.
We may end up spiraling with our thoughts,
Ruminating and continuing to tell ourselves a narrative that may or may not be true.
We may think that we are unworthy,
Maybe we don't feel adequate or maybe we just think it's not meant for us.
We don't deserve it.
This is why I think it is so important to get to the root of those jealous and envious feelings.
If we stay too long in these feelings then it becomes a pattern,
Becomes a habit every time we encounter jealousy that we send ourselves into this spiral of thoughts.
We become unhappy and we become depressed and it puts us in a bad mental space.
I invite you to explore why these feelings are there to begin with.
What are your feelings and emotions telling you to heal?
Is there some story that you were told that only certain people get to have it all?
Maybe self-doubt,
Confidence.
Whatever you put your mind to,
You put effort into,
You can accomplish anything you wish.
Instead of using jealousy and envy as a way to confirm your ideas or feelings about yourself,
Whether they may be true or not,
See if you can use that feeling of jealousy or envy as a motivator to change the narrative and change your patterns to accomplish the things you wish to accomplish.
The first step in this is recognizing your jealous or envious thoughts.
After you've acknowledged this feeling,
Forgive yourself for the thought and ask yourself,
Why not me?
Why can't I have that or why can't I do that?
If that other person can have what you want,
Why not you?
When I bring my attention and focus back to me and the things I have accomplished or the projects or the things I'm working on to meet my goals,
I stay in my flow and I'm happy.
And when I'm happy,
I can then be happy for other people and their accomplishments.
So when you find yourself becoming jealous of what somebody else has or has done,
See if you can be happy for them.
Be happy that they've been able to accomplish your goals,
Their goals,
And bring the attention and awareness back to you and your life and what you are accomplishing.
And just know through dedication and consistency,
You can achieve anything you desire.
What is meant for you will be yours.
We all deserve and want happiness,
But let us try not to focus on others so much and what they are doing.
Bring that attention back to you.
What you focus on is where the energy flows.
So if you're expanding all of this energy,
Thinking and worrying about other people,
That is where your attention and energy is going.
But when you bring the attention back to you,
The energy will flow back towards you.
In the meantime,
While you're working on this,
Because it doesn't happen overnight,
It takes practice.
Allow yourself to unfollow,
Unsubscribe anybody on social media that when you see their posts or their pictures,
It causes you distress.
Give yourself a little grace and allow some space.
Step away from them on social media.
It's okay.
Give yourself the permission to do that.
Do what you need to do to protect your peace and get to the root of your feelings.
Let's begin by changing the story and changing the narrative.
You deserve all the happiness in the world.
You deserve to accomplish your goals and dreams.
You are worthy.
You are whole and you are perfect,
Just as you are.
So if we can remember that as we compare ourselves to other people and be happy for others,
Then that happiness will come back to us.
Staying here for a few more cycles of breath and sending out love and positivity to our friends who are accomplishing their goals and sending all of that happiness back to ourselves,
Inviting it into our lives,
Inviting inspiration from the universe to help us achieve these goals and dreams of ours.
On your next breath,
Take a fuller,
Deeper inhale,
Reaching your arms up and overhead.
As you exhale,
Bringing your hands down to your heart center along with all of that divine universal energy that vibrates as the frequency of love.
