What do you do if you find that your spiritual path is not working?
Isn't quite going quickly enough or maybe we're not getting the results that we're hoping for.
So the first question is.
.
.
Are we building?
Are we practicing?
On the right foundation.
Years ago,
I read a book.
Called Tantra Quest.
By Daniel Odier.
And it's this great story of a man who discovered that there was this Tantrika living out on a mountain and he went through all the trials and tribulations to meet her and learn her secrets and learn what she had to share.
One of the first questions she asked him was,
What was your first moment of awakening?
And he said,
Well,
I don't know.
I'm not sure I've had one.
And she said,
You wouldn't have made this quest.
If you hadn't had a moment.
And she said,
In fact.
That moment of awakening is the foundation of all of your spiritual practice.
So let's imagine this for a moment.
Let's imagine that we do a practice,
Whether it's yoga or a meditation.
And we do it from our place of struggle.
And of course,
Many,
Many,
Many times we're going to use these techniques.
To help calm our nervous system,
To help.
Become healthier.
But if we want to meditate,
Connect.
With our divinity,
To connect with our eternal self.
What if instead?
We remembered one of those moments.
My teacher used to call them reference points.
Moments when time stood still.
Moments when you experience something that you could not explain.
And it could be anything.
It could be a moment lying on the grass,
Staring up at a blue sky.
Or the stars.
It could be a moment in meditation.
For me,
One of my favorite moments is remembering when my children were young,
Going up and standing by the door and watching them sleep.
It could be anything.
It could be hearing a song that makes your hair stand up on end.
All we need is one.
One opening.
Into our divine eternal self.
And then.
We do our practice.
From that place.
