Hi there,
My friend.
It's me,
Carly,
Your favorite Gen X dealer of positive vibes,
Life and wellness coach,
And community builder for women in midlife and beyond.
Thank you for joining me here today.
In this season of life,
We experience a vast array of physiological changes,
Some we expect,
Others sneak up on us.
Whether they're small annoyances or major disruptions,
There's a learning curve involved,
My friend.
It's no longer business as usual when it comes to your health.
Practices that help you feel good in body and mind,
Enhance your quality of life.
This guided meditation is an opportunity to slow down,
Check in with your body,
And listen with curiosity.
Let's begin.
Find a comfortable position.
It doesn't matter if you are sitting or lying down.
Whatever feels best for you right now is the right choice.
Fidget a bit,
Wiggle.
Shake it out if you need to.
And settle into just the right spots.
Start with a few deep breaths and long exhales at your own pace.
And while you're breathing,
Notice the movement of your belly and chest.
When you feel ready,
Allow your breath to return to a natural,
Effortless pattern.
Now I'll take you through your body to check in on each area.
Your role is to notice with an open heart.
No judgment,
No preconceived notions,
No problem solving.
Only curiosity and attentive listening apply here.
Focus on your head and neck.
Notice any tension,
Pain.
Or other sensations.
Think of all that happens in this part of your body.
How amazing is your energy-hungry brain?
Highs.
All that goes on in your mouth and your ears.
The bones and muscles in your neck.
Is this part of your body sending you any messages?
Now move your attention to your shoulders,
Arms,
And hands.
Again,
Notice where there's any tension.
Pain.
Or other sensations.
Think about how this part of your body supports you in life.
Pushing,
Pulling,
Lifting.
Holding.
Is this part of your body sending you any messages?
If so,
What is it saying?
Now shift to your chest and abdomen.
Notice where there's any tension,
Pain,
Other sensations.
Don't forget about the backside.
Of your abdomen.
And chest,
Upper back.
And think about all the amazing things.
This part of your body.
Your heart,
Your lungs.
Your gut.
You're spied.
All of those major organs protected here.
Your rib cage.
What is this part of your body telling you?
Now shift your focus to your hips and your legs.
Front and backside.
Notice where there's any tension,
Pain,
Or other sensations.
And think about all the amazing things this part of your body does for you.
There's big strong muscles in this area.
Sitting,
Walking.
Standing.
Running,
Jumping.
When you listen.
What is this part of your body telling you?
Now move down into your lower legs and feet.
Find that tension,
Pain,
Any other sensations.
Think of what this part of your body does for you.
On a daily basis.
All those little muscles and bones in your feet.
Your balance,
Walking,
Rising up on your toes to reach something.
As you listen.
What do you hear this part of your body telling you?
Now place one hand on your heart and one on your belly.
Notice how they rise and fall with your breath.
And as you're here,
Express gratitude for your body.
Express love for your body.
Make a promise to your body that you will listen,
Love,
And care for it.
One last time.
Take a scan from head to toe at your own pace.
And just notice once again.
What is it your body wants you to know?
Start to bring your attention back to the space you're in,
My friend.
Maybe start with the surface you're on.
The sounds around you.
Wiggle your fingers and toes.
And when you're ready,
Flutter open your eyes.
Welcome back my friends.
If you found this meditation helpful,
Return to it frequently.
Your curiosity and listening skills will become sharper.
You'll hear your body's messages more clearly.
And that,
My friend,
Allows you to care for it,
Honor it,
Love it more easily.
Thank you for spending this time with me.
Be well,
My friend.
