Find a space and a position that's comfortable for you.
Seated or lying down,
Take a deep breath in through your nose,
Allowing your belly to expand and let it out through your mouth.
If you haven't already,
Close your eyes or find a focal point,
If that feels better,
While you take another deep belly breath in through your nose and exhale completely through your mouth.
Give your body permission to relax and let tension fade with each round of breath.
Take another deep breath in and out.
Repeat one or two more times and then allow your breath to return to a natural rhythm as we move on.
Imagine yourself walking on a forest path.
Hear the sound of your feet on the ground.
See the sunlight making its way through the tree cover.
Feel the cool air coming into your lungs.
Smell the rich,
Earthy scent all around you.
As you approach a clearing,
You see a large bird unlike any you've seen before.
Its feathers are the most beautiful,
Crimson,
Orange,
And gold.
They shimmer in the sunlight and you realize this is a phoenix.
She looks directly at you and allows you to walk slowly toward her.
Getting closer,
You see the glowing embers on her tail.
It strikes you that you are not here on accident.
You are connected to this creature in an unexplainable way.
You understand her beauty is not despite her beauty.
What she's been through,
But because of it.
The fires of life,
The challenges,
Changes,
And losses enable her to rise stronger,
Wiser,
And more vibrant each time.
You take a step closer and another wave of understanding moves through you.
She does not doubt her ability to rise.
She deeply trusts herself and what she is capable of.
You take one more step and are at her side.
She bows her head and you run your hand gently down her back.
The texture of her feathers is otherworldly.
The energy emanating from her body passes into yours.
You feel a profound sense of quiet strength warm you.
Slowly,
She raises her head to look at you and then you know.
You are connected to this phoenix because she embodies your resilience,
Your confidence,
Your strength.
The fires of life do not define you,
My friend.
Like your phoenix,
They refine you.
She is always there for you to remind you of your resilience,
To remove doubt and replace it with confidence,
To rekindle the glow of your inner strength.
When you feel ready,
Gently wiggle your fingers and toes,
Bringing yourself back to the present moment.
Slowly blink open your eyes or move your gaze to notice your surroundings.
