Welcome to this guided meditation on the element of fire and its capacity to help us transform,
Cleanse,
And heal whatever might need healing.
Fire is the element of passion,
Intuition,
And anger.
Fire can help us to know and set clear boundaries for protection and to release anything we do not need in our energetic bodies.
Fire is a friend that we sometimes need to warm our bellies and stoke the spark within that helps us take action,
Set boundaries,
And let go of what no longer serves us.
Please take some time to get settled for this meditation if you haven't already.
You may like to sit upright,
Supported by a soft block or cushion,
But feel free to sit however works best for you.
Feel free to move around if you need to shake out your hands or roll your shoulders.
Notice what's going on with your jaw.
Wherever you are in the world,
Take some time to imagine a circle of protection,
Made of the hottest,
Most perfect ring of fire.
Invite the energies of heat,
Strength,
Power,
Healing,
Cleansing,
And transformation into this circle of light.
Clarify that these energies are coming in for the highest good of all,
And that anything that does not align with this highest good simply cannot cross the boundary of fire around you.
Take a few deep breaths.
If you're comfortable with it,
Try Ujjayi Pranayam,
Which is a yogic breath where the pelvic floor is very gently activated with the core and the soft palate lifts at the back of the throat.
As the spine grows taller,
The inhale spreads the lungs and ribs,
And the exhale gently draws in the abdominal muscles.
A slight whispering sound may be heard at the back of the throat.
This is sometimes called the breath of the warrior,
A powerful,
Heating breath that the yogis use to build their inner fire.
Now imagine a spark in your solar plexus,
Right near your stomach.
See the light there,
Bright and strong.
Feel the spark within your breath,
Widening your diaphragm with each inhale,
And gently drawing the abdominal muscles in and up on the exhale.
For now,
Simply see the flame in your belly getting stronger as you feed it with your breath.
If the Ujjayi breath is working for you,
Stick with that.
If not,
Let it go and imagine your natural breath working the exact same way to stoke this spark.
Allow the brightness in your belly to grow,
Beginning to warm your insides.
Feel that fire clarifying the inside of your body.
Simply,
Easily burning away any energies that are not yours,
That do not belong to you,
That cause you illness,
Fatigue,
Pain,
Or anything else that you're simply ready to let go of.
Trust that this fire knows you well enough to know what to keep and what to send away.
See this bright flame transforming these unwanted energies into smoke,
Returning them simply and easily to source.
Allow this heat to work in your chest,
Your shoulders,
Your belly,
Your head,
Your jaw,
Your throat,
Your hips,
And your legs.
Focus this heat and energy anywhere you notice you may particularly need it.
Notice if there is any anger rising up as you work with this breath.
Anger works to show us where our boundaries are,
Or it might illuminate any needs that are not being met.
You don't need to overthink this,
But if there is anger here,
Simply allow it.
Let it play with the fire in your imagination,
Burning away anyone or anything that needs to give you some space within the safe realm of your inner world.
Take your time with this,
Allowing the fire to do its healing,
Cleansing,
Clarifying,
Boundary-affirming work.
Now remember your connection to the element of water,
That gentle,
Cool flow that invites an energy of compassion for you,
For your anger,
For anything or anyone else that might need some compassion.
Do not invite back anything you sent away.
Compassion can hold a very loving boundary.
Simply remember that you are as connected to water as you are to fire,
These complementary opposites.
If you feel content as you are,
Stay here,
Breathing with the gentle warmth and heat of the inner fire that you've cultivated today.
If you're feeling a little too hot,
Imagine placing your feet in the cool stream of compassion,
Bringing your energy and your temperature to exactly where it needs to be.
Notice how you feel now,
Especially in your jaw,
Your arms,
Your chest,
Your stomach.
Take a few deep breaths as you need to,
Connected to this sacred,
Transformative fire.
When you're ready,
Place your hands over your stomach,
Where you feel your inner spark.
Gently bow your head,
Honoring the sacred heat of the fire,
The compassionate flow of water,
Land,
Sky,
The air,
Your circle of protection,
And anyone or anything else you'd like to offer your gratitude toward.
Thank you for listening,
And enjoy your spark for the rest of your day.
