Greetings fellow travellers.
Today's meditation is about uncertainty.
Life brims over with uncertainty.
Yet we can often feel unprepared to sit with it when it arises and grasp to end it,
Feeling tension and frustration when that cannot be easily done.
Whether that uncertainty comes from within ourselves or externally due to the world around us,
There is always potential for it to arise.
It's inevitable.
But anytime we wish for that to be different,
Some suffering can come to us through our perceptions of our own security and to powerlessness.
However,
As meditators,
We do not have to be at the mercy of this.
We can be present with uncertainty.
Situations and be empowered,
Holding the tension and getting on with the rest of life by harnessing our meditation practice to ground us in the now and empower us.
So let's begin.
Find yourself a comfortable seated position,
One that allows you to have a tall spine and open chest,
Whether that is on the floor or on a bolster or in a chair,
Whatever's right for you.
Get set up now.
Once set,
If it feels good to you,
Close your eyes softly or soften your gaze and take three deep cleansing breaths,
Any way that feels good for you.
You can try sighing them out to vent off any tension,
Like.
.
.
Just to get yourself a little bit more relaxed.
And when you've done those three,
Or more if you need,
Settle into a nice relaxed rhythm of breathing.
Whatever that means to you.
Notice yourself relaxing a little more with each breath.
The area around the eyes relaxing with each breath.
The temples relaxing with each breath.
Your cheeks,
Relaxing with each breath.
The jaw relaxing with each breath.
And your neck,
Relaxing with each breath.
Feel yourself sinking nicely into your chosen position a little more Feel cradled by your seat.
Take another nice deep breath.
Breath and sigh it out.
Carry on as you were.
And if at any point you feel the mind drifting,
Just take another breath like that.
Wipe the slate clean.
Coming back to these words.
And the bread.
Let's just be with that breath a little longer.
Feeling more and more relaxed with each one.
Blowing any thoughts away with a deeply sighed exhale.
Send them dancing off like butterflies on the breeze.
This is your time now.
Stay tall and open and relaxed in your chosen position.
Stay with the breath.
In this present space.
Feel the body relaxing even more.
As we go with each breath area around the shoulders relaxing.
The trapezius relaxing.
Your chest muscles relaxing.
Feeling cradled and supported by the breath but you're safe.
And buy these words.
Now we are a little bit more comfortable.
We're going to do a little work with a couple of the chakras.
The chakras are the major energy centers of the body and have different aspects to each one but do not worry if you are new to them or do not know much about them.
They can be simply thought of as areas of the body we will use as focus points.
Because you are doing something positive here in your meditation with these areas you carry in your body.
You are carrying that support with you.
You are supported everywhere you go.
Let's take a deep breath.
Sigh it out.
Let's bring attention to where your bottom touches the seat or your pelvic floor,
Whichever makes more sense to you right now.
And get a sense of the contacts between you and your seat or the bolster or the floor This area where we're making contacts,
Where we're rooted in our position is quite aptly named the root chakra.
It is represented by the colour red.
And associated with grounding matters of the material world,
The body,
Security.
And the right to be.
And the right to have.
Focus your attention in that seat area.
Stay with the breath at the same time while you do.
Sense or visualise or imagine.
Ball of red light at this point.
If you prefer you can just think the colour red or the word root while feeling yourself in contact with your seeds.
If the mind wanders then just sigh it back into place and bring your attention to the to the root chakra in your chosen way.
Being with the sense of support in this moment while you focus on this area cradle.
Pulled into the seat.
Supported by your position and your breath.
Of these words.
You are safe here.
You are supported.
So let's stay with that feeling.
A little longer.
Stay.
That chosen method of focusing on the root chakra.
Good.
We're going to take this a little deeper now.
And tap into the root's innate ability.
To ground and support us in this moment.
So while you stay with the cradled feeling of your seat and the breath We're going to use some simple affirmations.
And you can repeat after me if you feel comfortable to do so out loud or in your head.
Whichever is good for you.
Here we go.
It is safe for me to be here.
It is safe for me to be here.
I am safe here in this space.
I am safe here in this space.
At this moment,
I am stable and I am grounded.
At this moment I am stable and I am grounded.
It is right to be exactly where I am.
It is right to be exactly where I am.
I am supported.
I have a right to be.
I belong.
I am supported.
I have a right to be.
And the right to belong.
I am enough.
I am enough.
Take another big breath,
Sigh it out.
We are going to move up the body now and bring our attention from the root chakra up to the solar plexus chakra.
You can find roughly where this is by placing a hand on your belly between the sternum and the navel.
And breathe into this area as you do.
If you are visualizing or imagining.
We are going to picture this area.
Instead of red,
As a bright yellow.
The colour of the solar plexus.
Your internal sun.
And if you prefer you can just think of the word sun Oh,
Yellow.
As you breathe into this space.
Whatever helps you.
Be in contact with the solar plexus.
This energy center is associated with your right to act,
Your individuality.
Your willpower.
Your personal power.
And your energetic output.
And if you wish to remain in contact with your palm gently resting in this area you can do so or just concentrate on the breath moving the belly up and down Whatever is right for you.
Just be with the solar plexus right now.
Stay tuned and stay open.
Remember you are still supported by your root and the cradle that has been created there.
By your breath.
And by these words.
You are safe here.
Just breathe with that a little longer.
Feel the power of that sun that you hold within you.
Radiating through the body.
Know that you have great power within you.
Having made it this far into the meditation and in general.
So let's be with this a little longer.
The mind drifts.
You know what to do.
You have the power.
Just scythe it back into place.
And return to the breath.
And while we sense the power of our own personal sun,
Right there in the belly.
Breathe into it We are going to take it deeper again like we did with the root chakra.
With some affirmations and again.
Repeat out loud if it is right for you or in your head.
Let's do that now.
Here we go.
I honour the power within me.
I honor the power within me.
The sun within me burns through blocks and fears.
The sun within me burns through blocks and fears.
I am worthy just as I am.
I am worthy just as I am.
I have the power to create the life I need.
I have the power to create the life I need.
I am focused and I am present.
I am focused.
And I am present.
I am enough.
I.
Enough.
Good.
We've set some excellent groundwork there with the chakras you're relaxed you're empowered you're grounded and so I'm going to leave you in silence for a couple of minutes with the peace and empowerment you have cultivated so far.
I will be right here and we'll bring you back in a few minutes.
Remember the focus points in the root and the solar plexus.
Remember to saw yourself back into place if the mind wanders.
And if you wish.
Whatever you need,
Say,
I am enough.
You've got this.
The space is yours.
Here you go.
Good.
You have done a great job.
You've metaphorically set your feet well,
Understanding in your power,
Nor should that be sitting in your power.
You get my drift.
Before we leave this meditation we need to return to the topic of this meditation.
Uncertainty.
How do we embrace it?
How do we accept it?
One way of looking at this is choice.
Life is full of choices.
If we focus on where we can make choices,
We become active participants in life.
We can't choose for life to not have uncertainty,
But when we throw our energy in the direction of what we can change instead of worrying about what we can't,
We can empower ourselves and be with uncertain times.
I will ask you this question to consider in your own time.
If it is not within my power to bring certainty into my life,
Then what do I have the power to do right now?
Once more.
If it is not within my power to bring certainty into my life,
Then what do I have the power to do right now?
Your answer will be personal to you.
But there's one answer that is universal,
And that's that you can meditate.
Which we have been doing quite long enough right now,
So let's just take a few deep breaths.
Start rolling out your shoulders.
And bring some movement to the body.
And when you are ready.
.
.
Gently open your eyes.
You have done fantastic today.
That was a big one.
If you want to seal this meditation with some journaling,
Then that is a good way of taking things further.
Perhaps listing some things in your life you feel grateful for.
And maybe listing a few times in your life you felt empowered to tap into the power of those two chakras we've been working with.
And remember that one thing about uncertainty in any situation is that it too will pass.
Past.
So hang in there.
Remember you have the power to ground yourself and stand tall.
And you carry that support from the chakras wherever you go.
So thank you so much for spending time meditating with me today.
Take care.
You got this.
Bye for now.
