Good morning.
This is Jo Hatcher.
As you open your eyes,
Notice how you're waking up.
It's the beginning of a new day with new possibilities and opportunities.
Allow yourself to have these next few moments to begin your day.
Too often we begin our day rushing,
Running to complete the to-do list.
On this morning,
I invite you to take these few moments and quietly begin with your breath.
Notice how you're breathing.
Listen to the sound of your breath.
Feel how your breath flows in and then out.
Your chest beginning to fill up with air and then your lungs expanding and then exhaling.
Next,
Notice the sounds you hear.
Maybe it's the sweet,
Soothing chirping of birds or the distant hum of cars on the freeway.
Maybe you hear tiny steps outside your bedroom door.
Or perhaps you imagine the sound of ocean waves.
Whatever it is,
Make it nurturing for yourself.
Whether your sleep was restful or not,
Notice how your body is this morning.
What does it need?
Imagine that your body feels exactly like you would like it to be.
Energized and alive with possibilities for this day.
Now imagine your body strong and resilient.
And thank your body for being ready to face whatever the day brings.
Say thank you to your feet that carry you wherever you go.
Thank your fingers and hands that reach and grab whatever you use throughout the day.
And your eyes,
Be grateful for them that help you be able to see your way in the world.
Exhale as you say thank you to your ears that you can hear everything surrounding you.
Being grateful has the power to transform your life and it can be simple.
Gratitude is the best way to have abundance.
When life gets tough or overwhelming,
Gratitude helps you be aware of all the things that are going right for you in this moment.
Even in our darkest moments we can see our way through if we remember what we have,
Who we still are,
And that we have the ability to think for ourselves.
I want you now to think of five things you're grateful for as you begin your day.
It could be that you're grateful for another day to wake up,
For clean air and water.
You might be grateful for your family,
Your friends,
Or for the bed that you're waking up in.
Whatever it is,
Think of what you're grateful for and say thank you.
As you think of the things you're grateful for,
Think of someone who's struggling right now.
Think of that person and imagine them standing in front of you,
Remembering them and sending them your wish for them to be healthy,
Loved,
And peaceful.
And thank them for being in your life.
Send them love.
Now go into your day feeling gratitude and appreciation for this day.
Know that all throughout your day you can bring this feeling with you into everything you do.
Blessings.
