Hey there.
Hi there.
Welcome to today's relaxation,
Wednesday the 1st of April.
Let's take a moment to.
.
.
.
.
.
To settle into your quiet place.
And as always finding the contact of your body on the ground.
And start to get in touch with your breathing.
Remembering for the next.
.
.
.
.
.
15 or so minutes.
It's going to be a refuge.
Finding the refuge inside,
Inside of yourself.
With some guidance.
Touching in on the possibility of.
.
.
.
.
.
Allowing our emotions to settle.
Whether we feel anxious or we feel some fear.
.
.
.
In these unprecedented times.
So I do wish that you're feeling okay today.
That you're feeling safe enough and.
.
.
.
.
.
That your fears are not overwhelming.
If they are.
.
.
.
.
.
And you still choose to be with this relaxation then.
.
.
.
.
.
I encourage you to do what I feel is right.
To pause if you need to.
To stop and start it as you need.
The song today is going to be an own song called Lay Down.
Which was inspired by the writings of American poet Maya Angelou.
Who has given.
.
.
.
.
.
Much of her life to being a writer.
A poet.
And talking about.
.
.
.
.
.
Particularly about abuses that she experienced when she was younger.
And how,
Despite all of that.
.
.
.
.
.
She continues with the wish to unite people through the power of acceptance and love.
And the powerful nature of love.
To not ignore difficulties or suffering.
But to.
.
.
.
.
.
As a way to see the connection of all people.
She says that.
.
.
She says we have more in common than we don't.
And.
.
.
.
.
.
She says that love liberates.
It doesn't hold on,
It liberates.
So whatever we're experiencing today and whatever we've been through.
.
.
.
.
.
There's a wish that we can find in ourselves.
That kind of self-love that liberates.
Okay,
I'm going to take three breaths in and out together.
So breathing in.
.
.
.
.
.
And breathing out.
Breathing in.
.
.
.
.
.
And breathing out.
Breathing in.
.
.
.
.
.
And breathing out.
Yesterday we said that there's 23 bones in each foot.
.
.
.
.
.
Making up a quarter of the bones in the human body.
Now alongside those bones there are 33 joints in each foot.
So imagining the foot and resting those bones.
Imagining the joints,
Joints resting.
Okay,
I'm going to take three breaths in and out together.
So breathing in.
.
.
.
.
.
And breathing out.
Breathing in.
.
.
.
.
.
And breathing out.
So around those resting feet.
.
.
.
.
.
And where the skin.
.
.
.
.
.
Or tendons.
.
.
.
.
.
As we move beyond the foot up to the ankle.
.
.
.
.
.
And up to the calf.
Deep breaths in and out as we move up through the body.
Resting,
Relaxing.
.
.
.
.
.
And feeling the health that's in our body.
Maybe some pain and tension too.
Not forgetting the health that's there.
So up to the top of the thighs,
The buttocks.
.
.
.
.
.
The waist.
.
.
.
.
.
And up to the stomach.
And then the side and the ribs.
.
.
.
.
.
Side of the body up to the chest.
Feeling where the air would be passing down there from the neck.
.
.
.
.
.
Down through the chest and into the belly.
Maintaining those long,
Calming breaths.
Wherever the back,
Contact on the floor.
.
.
.
.
.
Slightly move the spine.
.
.
.
.
.
Come to a resting place again.
Is there any tension in the shoulders?
If there is,
Just dropping the shoulders a little bit.
Try and find the most restful place for your shoulders.
Left arm.
.
.
Wherever muscle and bone,
Skin.
.
.
.
.
.
Elbow and forearm,
Allowing the arm to sink into.
.
.
.
.
.
The surface of where you're lying or if you're sitting,
Allowing the arm to sink down with gravity.
Then over the fingers.
.
.
.
.
.
Where a fingernail's fingertips.
.
.
.
.
.
And then move onto the fingertips of the right hand.
.
.
.
.
.
And then down into the palm of the right hand and the knuckles.
Move the forearm.
.
.
.
.
.
And then down into the palm of the right hand and the knuckles.
Move the forearm.
.
.
.
.
.
Muscle and bone up to the elbow.
.
.
.
.
.
And then down into the palm of the right hand and the knuckles.
Move the forearm and bone up to the elbow.
.
.
.
.
.
And continue that journey round to the top of the shoulder.
Feeling that circle of the arms.
.
.
.
.
.
Over the chest,
Down through the arms to the fingers and back up again to the other side of the chest.
Gentle breaths into the neck,
Relaxing the neck,
Relaxing teeth and tongue.
Then we've got the top of the nose,
Or the tip of the nose rather,
Feel where the air comes in,
Nostrils.
.
.
.
.
.
The ears.
.
.
.
.
.
And the eyes,
Resting the eyes.
.
.
.
.
.
The forehead,
The side of the head,
The temples.
.
.
.
.
.
And moving our attention to the back of our head,
Past the skull and the brain.
.
.
.
.
.
And just feeling the shape and the weight of the whole body.
I'm going to sing to you now,
So just hearing my voice,
Following your breathing,
The shape of your body.
.
.
.
.
.
And permission to rest and you know that others have rested with this recording.
.
.
.
.
.
Allowing yourself to stop in the moment.
Oh when you find your brother,
Oh in the eyes of another one.
.
.
.
.
.
Like when our friends and others,
They cross the lines we get stuck upon.
.
.
.
.
.
Oh when you throw your covers,
Oh when you lay down your disguise.
.
.
.
.
.
And the one who suffers,
Yeah they've got nowhere left to hide.
.
.
.
.
.
Lay down your hand,
Lay down your heart.
.
.
.
.
.
Oh when you see your sister,
Long lost before now,
Oh when you know you've missed her.
.
.
.
.
.
And you both feel this somehow,
And for the wells you wish her.
.
.
.
.
.
Oh for the times you've been apart,
May seem to the world a whisper.
.
.
.
.
.
Oh but you know that it's a start to lay down your hands,
Lay down your heart.
.
.
.
.
.
Oh when you feel your father,
Feel him in all his joy and pain.
.
.
.
.
.
And you know that you've come after,
To journey on the same.
.
.
.
.
.
Oh when you hear your mother,
Oh in the stories she told.
.
.
.
.
.
Oh with her love for others,
Oh in the hearts that we hold.
.
.
.
.
.
Lay down your hand,
Lay down your heart.
.
.
.
.
.
Lay down your hands,
Lay down your heart.
.
.
.
.
.
Lay down your hands,
Lay down your heart.
.
.
.
.
.
Ok,
So taking some gentle breaths.
.
.
.
.
.
And I wish you.
.
.
.
.
.
Yeah I wish you an ok rest of your day and evening.
.
.
.
.
.
Best wishes.
.
.
.
.
.
Any suggestions of any songs,
Please keep them coming through,
I'm learning a few at the moment.
.
.
.
.
.
And an original of the song I sang today is on an album which I released this year.
