In this short mindfulness meditation, I guide you to find a home in your body and to start listening to the felt sense of having a body. Our bodies are always communicating with us and often times to let us know what it needs.

Hello and welcome to meditation.

I'll invite you to close your eyes,

Find a comfortable position for your body.

And as you become comfortable and you find the pose that best suits your body at this moment,

It may be lying down,

It may be sitting.

Touch base with your breath.

Feeling the breath as it comes in through your nose,

And as it comes out.

And as you notice this magical thing called the breath that keeps this body alive,

You notice that you have a body.

This body is your home.

See if you can notice what the body is communicating with you at this moment.

Not necessarily a thought,

But what is the language of the body?

So you might feel sensations.

You might feel a change in temperature on your skin,

The response of the body to the environment.

Having this kind awareness towards your body,

Not to judge,

Not to say how it should be or not,

But to welcome,

To welcome all the sensations.

And to start to listen how the body communicates with you.

What is the body's way,

Your home?

What is the body's way to say I'm comfortable or I'm uncomfortable?

Or I'm cold or I'm warm.

Our bodies are constantly communicating with us.

And it is common that we do not listen much.

How can we start listening to our bodies with kindness?

Becoming aware of what the body's saying,

How it's communicating,

And offer the kindness that is available.

And sometimes touch can be a helpful way to communicate back with the body.

Or if you feel drawn to touch your heart or bring your hands to your shoulders,

Kind of giving a hug or to move the neck to expand,

Maybe stretch a little bit if there's a tension there.

And you can do that with an attitude of kindness,

Of really offering yourself,

Your body,

Your home,

What is asking of you.

And again,

Notice the breath that's always there,

That it doesn't leave us,

Even when we are not aware.
