Hello there.
We're going to do a meditation that is based on being thankful and being thankful for your body and all the things that it lets you do in this life.
So first I want you to get really comfortable.
Feel nice and secure.
Whether you're sitting down,
Lying down,
Just make sure that you feel connected to whatever surface that you're on.
Now I want you to take a deep breath in and let it out slowly.
Another breath in and again let it out slowly.
And one last time and try and make your out breath even longer than your in breath.
Now I want you to imagine roots growing out the soles of your feet.
And they're growing into the ground.
And your roots can be any colour that you want,
Any size that you want.
And they're going deeper and deeper into the ground.
And your roots just don't have to go down.
They can go out to the side as well.
And let your roots go and find the roots of those that are near and dear to you.
Your roots can wrap around their roots,
Making you feel safe,
Making you feel loved,
Making you feel very secure.
Feel deeper and deeper.
Further and further into the earth.
You can feel the energy of the earth coming up through your roots.
Feels warm,
Feels soothing.
Energy that makes you feel so good.
Let your roots go just a little bit deeper and wider.
Now I want you to think of your toes.
Those pretty little toes.
Thank you toes.
Thank you for the feeling of sand.
Under my toes.
Thank you for the feeling of mud squishing between my toes.
Thank you toes for letting me reach just a little bit higher and able to reach those chocolate chip cookies.
Thank you toes for letting me dance ballet and twirl on my pointe shoes.
Now I want you to think of your feet.
Thank you feet for letting me feel the grass under my feet.
Oh,
The hot cement under my feet.
Hot,
Hot,
Hot,
Hot.
For letting me feel the coolness of the water when I dip my feet in the water.
Now I want you to feel your legs.
Think of your legs.
Thank you legs.
Thank you for letting me run and jump and dance and walk towards the person who loves me so much.
To skip.
To run for a touchdown.
To stand in a nice strong stance as I throw that basketball into the net.
Thank you legs for helping me hike,
For climbing mountains,
For swimming in the water.
Now I want you to think of your waist.
Thank you waist.
Thank you for letting me twist and turn.
Thank you for letting me let a hoop ride around my hips over and over and over again.
A hula hoop.
Thank you for letting me turn to see who's behind me.
Thank you for letting me bend down and pick things up.
Thank you waist for letting me get ready with my friends for a game of leapfrog.
Next I want you to think about your heart and your lungs and all your internal organs.
Your nerves,
Your tendons,
Your joints,
Your cartilage,
Every single molecule in your body.
Thank you.
Thank you for doing all the hard work,
Keeping me healthy,
Keeping me alive.
Every single nanosecond of every single day you are there for me no matter what.
You help me breathe,
You help me digest,
You help me move,
You help me think,
You help me love,
You help me feel.
Thank you.
Next I want you to think of your fingers,
Those beautiful fingers.
Oh my,
The things that those fingers can do.
They can pen the beautiful letter to a friend.
They can play a piano.
They can text your mom to say,
Hey,
I made it.
I'm fine.
Love you.
Text your best friend.
What's happening?
Text your best friend.
I'm sorry you're so sad.
I'm thinking of you and I'm here if you need me.
Playing the flute,
A violin,
Holding a football,
A basketball,
A baseball,
Holding a bat,
Patting your cat or your dog,
Letting your bird sit on your finger.
Look at him in those little eyes and tell them,
I love you.
Thank you for being my friend.
For making cookies.
For feeling them walk through the water.
Feeling them hold a handful of sand and having it trickle through your fingers.
Thank you fingers.
Think of your hands.
Oh,
Thank you hands.
All the wonderful things that your hands can do.
Your hands can clap.
They can spike a volleyball.
They can knead some dough.
They can make some interesting paintings.
Next,
Think of your arms.
Thank you arms.
Oh,
My arms,
I love you.
They can help you swim through the water.
They can hug your best friend.
Give your dad a big hug.
They can convey so much,
Not even a word.
They can be so elegant and beautiful while you're dancing.
They can help you soar off a mountain when you're hand gliding.
They can flap around like a bird when you're running and being silly.
Thank you arms for all the things that you do for me.
Next,
I want you to think of your eyes.
Oh,
My goodness.
Thank you eyes for allowing me to see all the beauty that surrounds me and all the big things like the sky and the mountains and the clouds and the trees and the grass and the flowers and the birds and the bees.
It's the tiniest little ant,
Busy,
Busy,
Busy,
Carrying food to her nest.
Seeing your family.
Your family can be your best friends,
Those people who are always there for you.
See the face of the earth.
See the beautiful wrinkled face of an old person.
Thank you eyes.
Next,
I want you to think of your nose.
We don't think of our nose often enough.
Thank you nose.
What a beautiful thing.
It lets us smell so many things.
Sometimes just a smell makes us remember people and places.
The smell of fresh baked peanut butter cookies.
Oh,
Yum.
The smell of grandma's perfume.
The smell of dad's aftershave.
The smell of a wet dog coming in from the rain.
Gross.
But still,
Thank you.
The smell of a fresh bouquet of flowers.
The smell of nature,
Fresh.
The smell of the sea.
The smell of the lake.
All of those things have a special and unique smell.
Thank you nose.
Next,
I want you to think of your ears.
Thank you ears,
You beautiful things,
You.
Your ears help you to hear the wonders of this planet,
Of your family.
Your sister's voice,
Your brother's voice.
Man,
He can be annoying,
But I love the sound of his voice.
My cat yawning.
Music.
My dog with his goofy whimper bird.
Can you hear the birds singing?
Can you hear the little waterfall in the background?
Mother Nature makes the most beautiful sounds.
But so do we humans.
The music that we can make,
The stories that we tell,
The movies that we make.
Can you hear the wind?
The wind is blowing.
Thank you ears.
I want you to think of your mouth.
Thank you mouth.
Your mouth lets you talk.
It lets you say how you feel.
Your mouth lets you say what you need.
Your mouth lets you be thankful to those around you.
It lets you talk.
It lets you sing.
It lets you hum.
It lets you click your tongue.
It lets you make funny noises.
It helps you breathe.
It can flash the most beautiful,
Heartwarming smile.
It can let the world know how you're feeling.
And it can taste,
It can taste the sweetness of a pineapple.
The chocolaty texture of a big chocolate bar.
It can feel the ice cream melting on your tongue.
Oh yum.
Your favourite dish no matter what it is.
Pizza,
Lasagna,
An apple.
Thank you mouth.
Thank you body.
Thank you for being my body.
Thank you for giving me everything that you give me every single day.
Every single moment of every single day.
And I want you to know that you are enough just the way you are right now.
Not a second from now.
Not a year from now.
Not ten months ago.
Right now.
You are enough.
I want you to put your hand on your heart.
And I want you to repeat after me.
Either in your head or out loud.
I am beautiful enough.
I am intelligent enough.
I am thin enough.
I am cool enough.
I am spiritual enough.
I am young enough.
I am fun enough.
I am enough.
I am young enough.
Thank you.
Thank you for listening with me.
I hope that you enjoyed that and that you'll join me again.
So my name is Joanne Ross and I'm with Savor the Moment in Serenity.
Lots of love.
