Stand near your kitchen counter and begin your morning with gratitude while your coffee brews. Gratitude is the highest priority; let these words come before all else. In this guided meditation, breath-by-breath affirmations allow your thinking mind to easily dissolve into respect for your body and breath, and all the life surrounding you. This short grounding practice is my favorite morning ritual. I find that listening to bird song, subtle flowing water, and awakening music heightens my awareness and mindfulness for the day ahead. Stand near a counter or table and pause.

Place left hand across stomach and right hand on low back.

Point your fingers down.

Breathe in and lift your chest.

Exhale tuck tailbone.

Stretch right hand toward earth,

Left hand toward navel.

Breathe in,

Shoulders wide and relax.

Exhale contract abdominals and glutes,

Tucking tailbone.

Breathe in,

Expanding your stomach beneath your hand.

Exhale tuck tailbone,

Lengthening low back.

Breathe in and spread your hands across the surface in front of you.

Exhale gratitude for your beautiful hands.

Breathe in and evenly space your fingers.

Exhale root knuckles and thumb joints.

Breathe in and feel through your fingerprints.

Exhale tuck tailbone and lengthen back of neck.

Your in-breath flows like sweet honey,

Opening your heart.

Exhale feel your generous hands connection.

Breathe in and spread balls of feet across earth.

Exhale root heels,

Lift arches.

Breathe in gratitude for your steadfast feet.

Exhale stand steady and anchor big toe joints.

Breathe in daylight between each toe.

Exhale calm your thinking mind.

Savor your in-breath.

Smoothly release your hands.

Slowly exhale and fascinate on your diaphragm's movements.

Breathe in sparkly aliveness.

Exhale courageously feel what is happening beneath your skin.

Breathe in gratitude for this moment.

Exhale release your desire to control or change anything.

Breathe in and recognize your tendency to rush,

Compete,

Complicate,

Overextend,

And live afraid.

Sigh and let all of that go.

Breathe in and breathe out.

Breathe in patience and curiosity.

Exhale be aware of your rippling thoughts.

Breathe in and infuse your thoughts with gratitude.

Exhale believe that something wonderful is happening just for you.

Exhale breathe in confidence.

Luxuriously exhale you are a masterpiece.

Breathe in love for birdsong welcoming each day.

Exhale gratitude for the sun rising.

Breathe in love for all forms of water renewing life.

Refreshing exhale feel your river flowing within.

Breathe in a purifying wind breath and let it lift you.

Sigh and free yourself.

Exhale breath in gratitude for mother earth's timeless support.

Exhale root your feet in the ground always beneath you.

Breathe in gratitude for stars in the night sky guiding you home to yourself.

Exhale love for grandmother moon watching over you.

Breathe in harmony and balance.

Exhale gratitude for the unity of our minds.

Breathe in thanksgiving love and respect for all beings.

Exhale commit to live with intention.

Breathe in aliveness.

Exhale be as you've always been forever grateful.
