So when you're ready,
Gently closing over the eyes and becoming aware of your body as you sit here.
Aware of your feet resting on the floor,
Backs of the thighs on the chair or surface beneath you.
Back,
Upright,
Yet supported.
Gaining an awareness of the body as a whole as you sit here.
Feeling grounded.
Complete.
Inviting yourself to take a deep breath in here.
And on the exhale,
Letting go.
And as you sit here,
Imagining that you had a view of the ocean,
That you could hear the waves crashing.
Going in touch with that rhythm of the waves.
Picturing how they crash and run up the beach and then gently retract.
Realising that you could smell the salty air and hear the sounds of the ocean.
Feeling as if the ocean could wash over you.
Feeling as if it could cleanse any negative thoughts or emotions.
And feeling as if it could uplift and nourish you.
So as you sit here,
Picturing the ocean,
We'll read a poem called Tides written by Te Piwem O Gabe.
Days when I am drunk on life and my spirit is full.
When I am all after,
I use those days to chase after dreams.
My spirit is strong and I am full of life.
Days when I want to hide and my soul wants stillness.
When my spirit reminds me of the beauty and vanity of everything.
I use those days to ground myself.
My spirit is strong and I am still full of life.
Allowing these words to sink in deeply.
To take hold.
To recognise the strength of one's spirit and to hold it dear.
Taking a few deeper breaths here.
Feeling as if those breaths were waves of the ocean.
And when you're ready,
Gently bringing your hands to your heart centre.
Bowing the head.
Namaste.
