On this morning,
As we awake to a new day,
As we ease our bodies out of sleep and loose the stiffness from our limbs,
Let us bathe our body in the light of awareness.
A breath in,
And the light fills our lungs.
A breath in,
And the light fills our hearts.
A breath in,
And the light extends through our arms.
A breath in,
And the light softens down our legs.
This body,
Which has been here with us seemingly longer than we have known ourselves,
Has been at times our friend,
At times a challenge.
Perhaps,
At times,
We have not loved our bodies.
Such a long and complicated relationship,
Our sense of self and our changing bodies,
Moving together through this life,
Tethered,
At times almost invisible.
Our bodies,
As an expression of who we are,
For better or for ill.
Perhaps we have loved our bodies,
A source of pride.
Perhaps we have not,
And felt shame at who our bodies said we were.
But always our bodies have moved along,
Persisted,
The vehicle of our existence.
So on this morning,
On this new day,
Let us practice loving kindness to our bodies.
A breath in,
And a gentle stretch of the spine.
A breath in,
And an expansion of the chest.
A breath in,
A soft smile illuminates the face.
A breath in,
A soft light all through us.
On this morning,
As we awaken to a new day,
Prepare to move into the world.
Let us love our bodies as the gift they are,
With compassion and gentle care.
