Im2 - Imagine Mindfulness 2.0

Jerry Cambra is a Certified MBSR Instructor through University of Massachusetts and Brown University and created one of the first online MBSR programs in 2015. His MBSR programs are offered on a donation basis (no fees) in order to offer "Access for All". The journey to teaching MBSR began in 2012 when he was diagnosed with heart arrhythmia. After two years on medication, he reluctantly signed up for MBSR as a last resort at his doctor’s recommendation. He tried to quit and get a full refund at the orientation after noticing the word “meditation” written on the board and thinking, “only weirdos do that.” After careful thought, he decided to stay. In week 4, he was doing a body scan, and felt his arrhythmia change to a regular beat. The next day, he called his cardiologist and asked him to schedule a 24-hour Holter monitor and an echocardiogram. He wanted to know whether what he was feeling was supported by objective scientific evidence. His cardiologist called him with the results and said “Mr. Cambra, your 40-50% heart arrhythmia is now down to less than 10%, and your heart function is now over 50%. I’m taking you off all medication, and you need to keep doing what you’re doing.” He was sold. Weird or not, it was working. In 2015, he began training with the UMass as an MBSR Instructor and he designed an MBSR program that could be delivered online. No one else was doing this at the time. He taught his first live MBSR program in November of 2016.
