Come to a comfortable seat.
Take the time and be interested in how you feel and how to become as comfortable as you can be.
Feet on the ground,
A pillow at your back,
A blanket around your shoulders.
Take as much time as you need,
Even pausing this meditation,
To be focused utterly on the experience of your body and how it is talking to you right now about what it needs to bring you closer to ease and peace.
This attention to the ordinary genius of your body is the first step of coming home to the reality of who you are.
Welcome.
Welcome home.
Welcome to your body.
Feel where you are in space right now,
As if you were five and tracing with a big crayon the structure of your spine and these arm bones and leg bones.
The round skull,
Which in this space begins empty and smooth and white.
The sensation of muscle over the bones.
The feeling of your breath or your heartbeat.
The powerful,
Ordinary,
Extraordinary biology that you are.
This.
This is how we begin to make our way home to the soul.
Feel your breath.
Deeply allowing your next inhale to fill every cell.
And as you exhale,
Allow every cell to rinse empty.
The genius of the technology of your body and your breath.
Always allowing and welcoming the new beginning.
And the releasing of the old.
Every breath you take a death and a resurrection.
An ending and a beginning.
The genius of your body.
This extraordinary.
Ordinary device.
Is a miracle of possibilities.
And you don't have to do anything for it to be so.
You are a miracle of possibilities.
Every injury you sustain.
Your body works to make better and heal.
Even when the injury feels unsolvable.
Your body still works to make you well.
So for this moment,
Just this moment,
As you allow your body to communicate with you,
Letting you know what it needs for comfort and wellness.
Pause.
Pause to be home in this loving genius.
If it feels available and easy.
Bring your hands together and feel palm to palm,
The energy of warmth,
Which flows from the heart to the hand.
Bringing love.
Into the space.
And if it feels comfortable.
As you inhale,
Breathe deep into every cell,
Feel the breath fill into your hands.
And as you exhale,
Bring your hands onto your body.
Any place on your being.
And allow these words,
This prayer of love for the body that you inhabit.
And are.
I love you.
You are my precious companion.
With me every moment,
No matter how I look or what I do.
You and I are one.
You keep me going no matter where I am or how I am feeling and continue to even when I resist or think I am unworthy.
Because of you,
I get to be human.
And oh how I love to be human.
Taste,
Smell,
Sound,
Touch,
Sight,
Feeling,
Pleasure.
And the endless opportunities to grow and heal.
Thank you.
Thank you for all of me.
Thank you for the strength you are.
Thank you for the places I am frail so I know where I can work.
Thank you for the wisdom and the insights and for all of that gut knowing you provide.
Thank you for always telling me the truth.
Thank you for letting me know what I need.
Thank you for laughter and the way you make me feel when I smile.
Thank you too for tears and the relief that they give.
And thank you for the throaty roars of anger and the power they promise.
Today,
Now,
I pledge.
I will treat you with the respect you deserve.
I will value you as the treasure you are.
I will cease shaming you for what society or my foolish mind says are imperfections or unworthiness.
I will honor you as the gateway to the infinite.
I will love you as the love that you are.
Love,
Beloved.
I feel love.
It is what you are made of.
Allow a moment for those words to simply arrive into the bones of your being.
Feel the steady rise and fall of your breath.
Receive your body's experience by simply being and allowing.
Welcome home.
Welcome home.
