Welcome back.
Lovely to have you here and thank you so much for listening to the Biz Alchemy podcast.
I'm feeling a little subdued today.
I had a shocking night's sleep.
It's very rare for me to have a bad night's sleep.
The full moon last week,
Fine,
No problem at all,
But whatever it was last night,
I definitely spent more hours awake than I did asleep.
So feeling a little subdued,
But that is perfect really for the theme of today's episode,
Which is about the sacredness of business and making your business sacred.
So it feels like I should be subdued in honor of that and surrounded with candles.
And anyway,
It's not quite the case,
But I created a sacred space before I started recording.
And this is what I want to chat with you about today.
I'm assuming that if you're listening to my podcast,
That you are interested in the sacred,
You are interested in ritual because you're interested in energy,
You're interested in consciousness.
That's why you listen to me.
And I imagine that you do have some sacred rituals in your life,
That making life sacred is important to you.
Honoring the sacred life is important to you.
And I'm sure you are already doing it in your business,
But I really want to focus on this today to bring more awareness so that you really can make business sacred.
Have you ever thought about it that way?
Have you ever thought about extending the sacredness that you might have in other parts of your life to your business?
And have a think about what rituals you have in place to honor the sacredness of your business.
Because your business is a sacred container.
It's a portal.
So it's vital.
It's vital for your relationship with your business that you honor this sacredness.
So what I'm going to do in today's episode is to share with you five suggestions I have to bring more sacredness to your business.
And I'm sure you will have a lot more suggestions other than the five I'm giving you today.
And if you do,
I would love to hear back from you.
Either pop it in the comments of the podcast,
If you're able to,
Whatever platform you're listening on,
Or send me an email,

And just share with me what you do to make business sacred.
How beautiful would it be to get a whole compilation of ideas?
Anyway,
Here's my five for today.
Number one,
Have a physical representation of your business to touch or to hold that you can show reverence to,
That you can meditate with.
And you might begin your workday in communion with that object.
Now I've had three objects at various stages of my business.
The first one I had was a beautiful quartz crystal ball and on top of it was a pewter angel.
And I've loved this.
I've had this for gosh,
A long time,
A long time,
Maybe over 15 years anyway.
I love it because it used to catch the light.
I say used to,
I mean,
It still catches the light,
Catch the light.
And I just see the rainbow energy and it was really beautiful.
And it felt very symbolic of what my business meant to me then of how I felt.
And I think it must have been one of my trips when I used to travel over to Europe a lot more to see Mark,
My partner,
Who's over there.
I used to carry it with me obviously,
Because it was my business symbol.
And so wherever,
Whenever I was working in my business,
I would have that symbol.
And one day on a flight,
One of the wings broke off and it just never felt the same after that.
I thought,
I can't have a business symbol with a broken wing.
So I actually thought,
Okay,
Time to upgrade.
And I upgraded to a beautiful wooden sculpture that could be held in your hand to meditate with.
It sort of had a spot for the thumb and the fingers,
But it was actually a symbol of Mary.
And I had bought it in Assisi in Italy,
In this beautiful little church that had been turned into a sculpture studio.
And it had the same,
This wooden sculpture was shown in the studio in all different woods from around the world and all different sizes.
And it was very beautiful and very sacred actually.
And so that has been my symbol for quite a long time,
At least three years,
I'd say.
And it felt right.
It felt,
When my business would show up to me,
Often it was like this grounded earth mother and it just felt perfect.
And then this year I noticed that when my business,
When I was connecting with my business in meditation,
She would sometimes show up a little bit differently,
A little bit more goddessy,
Shall we say.
And some friends who were,
Who had a stall at a festival,
Well,
Sort of an event,
And they were selling off things they didn't want anymore.
And I went to visit them and picked up this beautiful selenite wand that had fluorite at the end of it.
And it was sort of spiraled.
As someone commented recently to me,
It looked like a unicorn horn.
And I picked it up and thought,
Oh,
Wow,
I love the feel of this.
I love the energy and the beautiful people.
And so I knew it had been infused with their gorgeous energy.
And my friend said,
Just have it.
So I brought it home and within a couple of days,
I went,
That's my new business symbol.
So that's sort of the representative,
The physical representation of my business now.
And so I will hold it at the beginning of the workday.
And sometimes at various points through the day,
I'll just pick it up and sit with it and honor it as a sacred representation of my business.
So finding a symbol like that,
It can be absolutely anything,
But it speaks to you and it feels like it has your business energy within it.
And of course,
The more you treat it in that way,
The more you communicate with it in that way,
You are giving it consciousness anyway.
So you are putting more of the business energy in it,
The more you're with it.
Now it could be a plant,
It could be anything that you choose,
But see it as a sacred symbol of your business and be prepared to shift as your business energy shifts.
As you shift,
It might be time to change it.
And that's okay because we are ever evolving.
Number two,
You have heard me mention over and over and over again,
But this is about meditating with your business.
And I'm sure you're aware that I've created a meditation called Meet Your Business.
And what is so interesting though,
Is I went back through my podcast episodes so I could say to you,
Okay,
You could listen to it at episode whatever.
And I've never put it on my podcast and I didn't realize that.
So I will be doing that in the future.
But what I have put on is my daily connect with your business meditation and that's in episode 27,
Which I've called when you don't have the energy for your business.
So if you'd love to listen to the shorter version,
The daily one,
You can listen to that in episode 27.
But when I say meditate with your business,
It doesn't have to be listening to one of my meditations.
It could just be sitting with your business symbol and call your business in and connect.
And it might be as simple as saying,
What do we focus on today?
It could be anything.
You might just do it once a week and plan your week or sort of commune with your business about what's important for the week ahead.
You find your way.
It might even be meeting with your business through doing one of my chakra clearing meditations.
Last year,
I did all of them from the base chakra through to the crown.
And I also have the feet chakras in one of the episodes.
So you can find all of those here on the podcast.
So doing one of those with your business is also another way to commune with your business at that spiritual level.
But this is a beautiful example of bringing the sacredness to your business.
And that leads into number three,
Which is about creating an opening ritual for your business.
So when you open for the day,
OK,
Before you put that open that computer or turn it on,
What little ritual can you do that maybe ends with turning on the computer?
But what can you do in the lead up to that?
So,
Yes,
You can commune with your business through the meditation,
Connect in with the object that you've chosen to represent your business.
You might light a candle,
You might draw an oracle card,
You might set an intention for the day.
I mean,
There are so many things that you could do and it doesn't have to be long.
It can be two minutes,
But it's sacred.
And in that two minutes,
You are honoring the sacredness of your business.
You are honoring the sacred portal that supports you,
That holds you,
That enables you to share your gifts with the world.
Now,
My fourth suggestion is at the other end of the day,
And that's to create a closing ritual for your business.
Now,
I confess I would like to make an intention around doing this more because sometimes I just get distracted.
I finish and I go away and then I come back and do something else.
But in actual fact,
It really does help complete the day if you create a ritual.
Now,
This could include honoring what you received that day.
Now,
As you're aware,
I'm very focused on the receiving energy now,
So I wouldn't be just going into what you're grateful for.
I would tune into what you received and how that felt,
Like really receive it in.
You may have received a payment or many payments.
You may have received a referral.
You may have received a testimonial from a client,
An email that just lit you up,
An idea.
What did you receive?
And really take that in,
Really receive it.
And then once that's absorbed,
Once you have received it in the yin energy,
You can move into the yang and feel the gratitude,
Give out the gratitude.
You might even hold your business symbol as you're sending that gratitude,
Send it into that symbol.
So whatever you choose to do,
You can do that in the lead up to then turning off your computer or closing it,
Or if you've got a physical shop,
Closing the shop.
You know,
I've been referring to this in an online sense,
But it's just as relevant if you have a physical location.
You don't tend to need the symbol as much if you've got a physical location because that space symbolizes your business anyway,
But it's still about honoring it.
And the thing is with closing up like that,
That then gives your business yin time.
It turns it off for the day.
Business needs yin time as much as you require yin time.
And this takes me into my fifth suggestion,
Which is honoring the cycles.
So you might do that in your business through following the moon cycle.
So what you do at the full moon may be different to what you do at the new moon.
You might just allow the flow of your business to be in alignment with those cycles,
Like I do with taking my yin week in business,
The week leading up to the new moon,
And using that for going inward and allowing my creativity to emerge rather than putting so much energy outward with clients.
So I keep it much more internally focused.
So I follow the moon with that.
You may choose to do something like that,
Or you may choose to follow your menstrual cycle.
And you'll probably find if you're honoring the moon and your menstrual cycle that they're in sync anyway.
So how can you embrace the cycles?
Like how sacred is that?
To embrace the cycles of nature and allow your business to flow with those cycles.
If you want to know a little bit more about that,
In episode 63,
I talked about what is my yin week in business.
And also way back in episode 17,
I had a chat with Laura Dick about business in harmony with your cycle.
So have a listen to those if you're wondering about how can you bring this sacredness into your business.
And another way to do this is to honor the seasons.
And this is what I do when I'm I hold my retreats at the solstices and equinoxes,
Is honoring the seasons and bringing that bringing that energy into business.
So there are many ways to honor the cycles,
But there is such a deep sacredness in the honoring of the cycles,
Which puts us in sync with the earth,
With nature,
With the cosmos.
And we really need more of this in our life.
We are so disconnected as a society.
So allowing remembering this connection and bringing it in through our business is a very sacred,
Beautiful act.
Because when you honor the sacredness of your business,
You are actually honoring your own sacredness.
And this brings you more in touch with your intuition and supports you to create a business that's unique and aligned with you.
Until next time,
Have an alchemical week in your biz.
